Hey LBT members,

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried the 5 day pouch test. If so, what were your results...how well did you do? How much weight did you lose in those 5 days?

I tried it just last week. It was easy to follow and I lost about 7 pounds. I wouldn't recommend doing it for more than the 5 days but it gave me a jumpstart. I haven't been a very dedicated bandster for some time and recently decided it was time to get back on track. I have since seen my Dr. and had a fill for the first time in a year and I am so glad that I did!

Prior to and after my 1st fill I had no restriction and found myself gaining back 8 of the 25 lbs I had lost since surgery 4 weeks before. So January 1st I started the 5 day pouch test to jump start losing again. I was angry at myself because I was eating so much, but was never hungry, so I really worked at listening to my body and began the test. I did pretty well, I lost the 8 lbs and have been on track ever since. I no longer eat just because I want to, so I concider the test a success :)

Wow!! Thanks everybody for the feedback...I am trying it now. I find the liquid phase the hardest to follow, but I am going to give it a whirl and see what happens. I've been working my butt off in the gym and I'm ready to see some serious results.

I'm thinking about starting this next week. I've been banded for 4 years and could really use the help getting back on track. Why don't we make this thread a support thread for people who are or who are interested in trying the 5 day pouch test out? And we can post our menus for the day as well as recipes.< /span>:)

Hi Missy!!

That's a great idea. If you want we can all do it next Monday - Friday. That will give us our 5 days....I am going to be logging my menus here as well as on FB for all those that are watchin me lose.

I don't think that's a stupid question at all. I ididn't buy the book about the 5 day pouch test. However, I know its focus is more on low carb high Protein options. Since Beans are higher in carbs, I would say stay away from them during the pouch test.

I am going to do the 5 day pouch test starting tomorrow. I have been not following anything for awhile and I usually do it to try to get back on track. So I am going to do it again starting tomorrow.

I love the pouch test! I did it 2ce in the past ( check out ym blog and search for the test for my experience) It helped me get back on track, got rid of cravings and helped me see whether I needed a fill or not

Unfortunately I wasn't able to start it this week. I ended up with the stomach virus that is going around here, but I lost 7lbs. I haven't had solid food in days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
