Tipped Port

Recommended Posts

My port has tipped forwards and it is very difficult to access. It is also very deep, because, where it has been placed is where i carry most of my fat. My question is, if i have to have a revision of my port is there any where else they can position it so it doesn't have to be so deep as this is increasing the difficulty of accessing it? It is half way between my sternum and belly button now.

Thanks

My port is in the chest area, a few inches below the collar bone. It is so easy to access and I love it there. My surgeon places the port in this area because he says ports are less likely to flip and move because they are in the upper part of the chest where there is hardly any movement as opposed to the abdomen where every time you bend or move, the port has a tendency to wiggle.

Is there a scar that shows? Does the port show? Do you have to wear clothes that cover it up? it sounds like a good place to put it.

The scar is in my underarm area and is barely noticeable. The port is so easy to access. It is so comfortble and I don't even know it's there unless I press down trying to feel it. Hopefully you can connect to this link and hear Dr. Bagnato talk about port placement in this area. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I checked the link and like the sound of the port up towards the shoulder. Went to the doctor today and he didnt say anything about needing to move my port. Just said it will get easier as i loose more weight. He is happy with my progress even if i am not!

Cheers

I never thought of it being in my chest/shoulder area either, but the surgeon that I used likes to place them there and the ladies at the Bariatric Institute say they love that he puts his there. Hope your port problems get straightened out.

My surgeon talked about having a port there. He said that as you thin out so does the skin in that area, making the port more visible the smaller you get. I thought he was going to place it closer to my hips, but nope, it's just a little above and to the right of my belly button. And today I've been having really sharp pains at my port site. I'm only 7weeks post-op, and I'm worried I did something to hurt it. :(

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
