Buying Protein Drinks in Bulk

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

My nutritionist still wants me on Protein Drinks even though I am one year post-op.

I don't like milk shakes, so I drink (Company: Nature's Best) Isopure Zero Carb Ready-to-drink bottles. It has 40 grams of Protein, no carbs, 160 calories.

The problem is that these bottles are expensive. GNC sells them for almost $3.50/bottle. They are also heavy and usually the store only has a dozen or so bottles, and limited flavors.

Since I am drinking one per day, I asked GNC if they can order me a few cases and if they would give me a discount... they give the 10% off if you get their membership... what a ripoff!

So, I called Nature's Best (1-800-345-BEST) and asked for their local disributor's phone #. I then called the distributor who told me that would deliver free for a $100 order. From them, each bottle costs approx. $2!!!

I ordered a dozen cases (12 bottles/case), because when buy 12 they throw in one case free (baker's dozen?).

Hope I can save some money for a fellow bandster.

Thank you for the info!!! I too drink this Protein Drink. I hate the shakes, and found this drink to be actually quite good! ( I like the blue and purple flavors). I get a 20% discount at GNC with my Gold membership, but it still is expensive to get all these drinks. And I agree with you about the bulky glass bottles. I try to drink 2-3 bottles a day, but usually end up finishing 1. I am not getting enough Protein from my diet and have found that drinking these really helps, with the 40 grams of protein per bottle.

I will contact them and see what they can do for me, as far as ordering a few cases. Thanks again!

Isopure is a good product, but it is a bulky heavy glass bottle. I've been using a product called Prostat 64. You get 15g of Protein in a single ounce. I've also seen them in a unit does if your on the go.

Do they taste okay? If so, I'm jealous. I tried saving money by asking a friend to pick me up some powder at Sam's Club. The truckload-size-jug is bigger than my kitchen. Cans are so much better!

I like the taste Pro-Stat 64, but I know others who do not. I like Prostat 64 because you can take it like a shot and get it over with. You can also mix it. It's alot of Protein in such a small volume. I also know that it comes in unit does also. Stuff like this should still be considered as "medicine" that you need and is ultimately good for you. So down the hatch it goes! Good Luck!

I use a product called Advocare Meal Replacement shakes. They come in berry, chocolate and vanilla. Their retail price is about $2 per pack, but you can get a 20-40% discount depending on how much you order. It is a direct marketing company, but I just use the "distributorship" for my 40% discount. I love the taste, but I also doctor them up by adding fruit, Peanut Butter, instant coffee, etc. to change up the flavor because it can get a little boring.

You can add a little Nestle quick to any shake to make it taste better too. I've been known to do that.

BTW, 26 grams of "predigested' Protein. Supposedly, it's more absorbant into your system.

I have also used ANY whey Protein Powder that I buy from my doctors office. Two scoops of that added to 8 oz of orange juice. Add banana and/or frozen strawberries. Very tasty, 34 grams of Protein. They sell it at cost for $13 for a large can. Not sure how many servings, but that's very cheap.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
