FMLA paperwork

Recommended Posts

Good morning all, I was wondering if anyone else had used the FMLA (family medical leave act) to cover the time you need off for your surgery? My curiosity lies in how much did your provider charge you to get this form filled out? I was charged $20 for a nurse to look in my file and check yes or no questions. I can understand why allot of medical stuff is expensive, but I don't charge someone $20 extra dollars to fill out something that took all of two minutes. I wish I got paid like that lol

I had to use the FMLA for leave as I was out 6 weeks due to heavy lifting on my job. and they didnt not charge me 20 for every excuse I got, which was 3 when it was all said and done. FMLA covered me for short term disability pay which wasnt much but still was a lot better then nothing.

I used the FMLA to cover the time off for surgery, wasn't charged anything! I was self-pay,so I'm not aware if there is a charge& I'm an RN at the hospiltal where surgery was performed!

I fell pretty lucky that I didn't have to use the FMLA. I was able to use short term disability. :)

when i had to take 5 weeks off for a surgery 2 years ago i had my doc fill out the FMLA paperwork. she charged me absolutely nothing. not even a fee for coming in to her office that day. she had me come in during their hour lunch break and it took all of 5 minutes.

I can see as to why they would charge you though, if they need to document that they looked through your files and did paperwork for you etc. you are essentially using their time. but I guess it depends on who your doctor is and what type of practice they work in

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
