Just got banded yesterday

Recommended Posts

So I am up early cuz I am in some pain and very sore. I got banded yesterday and while getting banded they removed a hiatus hernia as well. Now is this causing me to be more sore than I expected? I also have 5 incisions and slept well last night. Gas not too bad at all. I have been walking as much as possible. My doc told me to put a cold compress, but fellow bandsters said heating pad. Which is better?? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Congratulations on getting you band! I'd listen to your doctor about whether to use cold compress or heating pad. Good luck and hang in there. It gets better every day!

Congratulations! I was also banded yesterday and am pretty sore. Like you, I have been walking around for about 5 minutes at a time to rid myself of this soreness and try to prevent the dreadful gas!

I am running a low grade fever this morning between 99.8 and 100. Is this normal? My discharge papers say to call my surgeon if my temp gets over 101. Has anyone else had this happen?

I am on day 5 (surgery on the 19th) and I still have gas. I'm not taking anything for it ... just trying to tough it out. Day 3 my legs hurt bad in the calf area .. but that started to subside on day 4 and is gone today.

I had some pain in the port area on and off .... but none today. My stomach growls (or howls) every once in a while but I don't feel hungry.

Thanks for all the encouragment! I would've responded earlier but didn't know all this was on here!! Ha ha I am on day 5, and today the pain in my shoulder was literally UNBEARABLE! And I can feel it starting up again as I sit here and type :( . I walk, put a heating pad on it, take gas X.... nothing helps!! Today was the first day I broke down crying which shocked my family because I am so tolerant of pain. But this is crazy!! I had to take my Loratab for that, not my incisions!! Anyone have any advice?!? Please do tell because I am ready to just scream!!!:o

I hope your fever turned out to be nothing! It hasn't happened to me, and I hope it doesn't! Please keep me posted on how you are doing :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
