Sometimes when I'm finished eating I burp. I'm able to eat just fine, I have never been stuck (knocks on wood) but I do have to say that when I burp it feels good, I feel relief. Is my body trying to tell me something (by burping, lol)... is it normal? Please help :)

I sometimes burp when my body is telling me to stop eating. Maybe it is your sign to not take another bite. Or maybe it's the "one bite too many" sign.

I was banded on July 15th have had 3 fills for a total of 5 1/2 ccs. I'm losing weight at about an average of 2 pounds per week. I have NEVER been stuck, never PB'ed (a little burp but not a PB), never slimed. I can still eat EVERYTHING, bread, Pasta, rice. So lets consider ourselves lucky that we are not going thru what most do on this board! Who cares what "NORMAL" is its our normal! Yay!!:)

Burping is usually the soft sign to stop--continuing to eat after this last fill just makes me feel uncomfortable.

I burp or hiccup when my body says that's enough, I'm full. It's usually a hiccup. If I think I'm full I put the fork down and soon after there's my hiccup lol! Kinda like the little red pop up button in the turkey, it pops up when it's done hahahaha!!!!

that was a good question, i always wondered what the burp meant. i was starting to realize burping meant i was full, but most times i have already stopped eating.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
