I know this site is called LapBand Talk but did anybody have the procedure done with the Realize Band? Thoughts? Opinions?

The lapband and the realize band are almost identical. The only difference is the company they are made by.

Everything you read here should apply to the realize band also.

Thanks, The only thing is I am not seeing a lot of people saying that they have used the Realize Band so I was just curious to its success rate..

Personally, I had the lapband. But there are many people here on the boards with realize band. The lapband is much more commonly used hence the high number of users here with lapbands.

I don't believe that one has shown to be more effective than another. Again, they both do exactly the same thing.

I had a choice of the two and I asked which one my Dr recommended.....he said personally, he's seen less problems with the Realize Band so thats what I got. I didnt question it any farther.

Lots of people on here have the Realize band and I have 2 close friends who also have it. No problems at all.

My surgeon used to do Lap band, but now he only does Realize Band. I didn't ask why. The choice of surgeon was more important than which band he was using.

I have the Realize version. I think many people call it Lap Band because that was the first one; Kind of like saying Kleenex, or Scotch Tape (In England they even refer to vacuuming as Hoovering!).

I have the Realize band. I've lost 94 pounds. I've been very happy with it.

Before I had surgery, I researched both... Yes, they both do the job...I also have two friends that both had the surgery. One had the Lapband, the other had the Realize band...they both had EXCELLENT results and were great examples of both products. I eventually decided to go with the Realize band and I love it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
