Pre-op liquid diet - weakness

Recommended Posts

Day two of my 10-day liquid diet. Yesterday was OK, but today I'm light-headed and weak. Does that go away?

:rolleyes2:

It's very difficult. I'm on day 4 of the pre op diet. It was considerably easier today. I didn't kill anyone (yay) Hopefully it gets better and better. I literally emailed my dietitian yesterday and was like 'Please let me eat!' but she was good and slapped my hand and said 'no, no, no!' Which sucked so I grabbed a grilled chicken breast which is bad. The truth is I haven't been eating much of the packets because they taste so awful I can't stand it! But about the cheating - Major guilt and disappointment and questioning if I had the cajones, so to speak, to do this right... Anyway I was strong and stuck through and as I mentioned - Day 4 is much better.

I've lost 8 lbs so far. I think that's weird. My BMI is 45 but the results appear to be there.

All I can say is It's worth it! Stick with it!

I'm on day 5, started Mon 11/8. Tues-Thurs were very tolerable. Today (Fri 11/8). I'm feeling the weakness. I trust it will get better and I am determined to go through it without complaint. I did find myself a tad crabby the other day at work because the day was stressful. I have been trying to keep busy to help keep my mind off of it. I WILL NOT CHEAT!!!

Hey Firechic, Not sure if I can do only 4 shakes a day, but am impressed that you can! I do try to just have one shake at lunch time, and top it off with broth, and SF Jello or pudding. The sweet stuff is getting t be a bit much, so I will drink more hot broth and coffee for that soothing feeling. I'm sure this will be over before we know it!! :(

:(

I felt the same way. My Nutritionist recommended that I get between 80-100 grams of protein/day. If I went under 80 I felt very weak.

Get yourself some really good Protein supplements and take Vitamins. That really helped me. The first full day of the liquid diet was the worst for me. Good luck.

I'm on day 7 of my medifast diet....i am still hungry but it isn't as bad as the first 3 days. I had body aches and a headache....I think my body was detoxing from sugar and fat. I don't always eat all 6 packets because they taste so bad. I have been eating alot of sf popsicles and Jello they seem to help. I am actually looking forward to pureed food with some flavor!

Today starts day 7 of my pre-op diet. I promise that it gets easier. Extreme weakness hit me through day 3. After that, it seemed to go away. I did call my dietician and she suggested that I add one more Protein drink a day (I was on two a day). That helped out a lot.

As others have said, it is difficult at first, but the hunger subsides. I have gotten so tired of eating (drinking) the same old stuff that I don't even care if I eat. As long as I get the Protein drinks in, I could care less if I have anything else.

If you can have sugar free popsicles, try those. I can have as many as I want in a day. They have been a life saver in the evenings when I am watching TV!

Hang in there!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
