Today I am 3 weeks post-op. I'm down 21lbs. 12 since surgery. I only lost 1 lb last week. Am I expecting too much too soon? I was hoping to have lost more by now. I'm sticking to the Protein and small meals, but I don't feel that the weight is coming off fast enough. My clothes are a lot looser and people are noticing the change, but I feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone else experienced this?:)

i had a plateau at around the third week too. be patient. it'll come if you eat right and exercise. they had me on just walking for about a month but as soon as you feel comfortable doing higher calorie activities go for it. plus, you most likely haven't even had any fills yet and aren't fully restricted yet anyway. its a process and it takes time...

I feel like I write this every day.

Normal weight loss that we can expect to achieve is one to two pounds a week.

Anything faster than that is a gift. Be grateful for it, but don't raise your expectations. It will slow down and you're just setting yourself up for dissapointnent.

Same boat for me. I'm 4weeks post-op and my weight loss slowed down quite a bit the third week. It's still coming off-just more slowly. I've been walking some, but probably need to do more. My calories have increased to about 800-900, which was more than I was having the first few weeks. I'm not too disappointed, but it sure was nice watching those pounds melt off for awhile! My surgeon doesn't give fills until 8 weeks post-op, so I have quite a ways to go before I feel much restriction.

Try not to get discouraged. Think of what it would have taken to lose 21 pounds before!

I'm in the same exact boat as you! I was banded on October 8th and I'm only down 21lbs! I know this is a great weight loss but I too thought it would come off more quickly. I haven't had a fill and I know that once I have my fills and get to that right fill amount and restriction kicks in I'll start losing. Don't be discouraged. It will start to come off. I have to start exercising. I've been very very very bad with that. I find every excuse in the book not to do it. I'm a lazy ass...time for that to change! Keep doing what you are doing - it will pay off...check out all the pictures and read their stories..alot of people were in our boat stuck with the program their dr gave and have had tremendous sucess!!

I got banded on the 12th too, and I am down 13 pounds. I am THRILLED about that! I haven't lost weight in years, so that I am able to lose now, is a wonderful feeling!!!

I have no restriction at all! I can eat anything. I try of course not to eat any Halloween candy, or pizza with the family, but it is hard. If I had an ounce of normal willpower not to eat, I wouldn't be fat to begin with. So when I gained 1 pound last week, I didn't freak out....but then all of a sudden...this week I was down 3 pounds!!! And I have honestly no idea how that happened. But I am happy!!!

I was told several times, that before you get your fills, you won't even notice that you have the band. And seriously, if I didn't have the little scars on my tummy, I wouldn't think I had it.

So I am looking forward to my first fill, so I can feel a little bit of restriction again. Then my new friends....it is a downward slope to the "normal BMI Land"!!!

Good Luck everyone!!!

Hi all,

I got banded on the 15th of October and am down 14 lbs. I'd read posts here about weight loss BEFORE restriction and I decided to take the weeks before my first fill (which will be on December 8th) to try and get my new routinues in order and hopefully become good HABITS!

I decided I wouldn't worry about weight loss until after the fill. I still need to up my exercising but I'm great on drinking Water and getting my Vitamins and Calcium. Baby steps!

As my husband told me....I didn't wake up one morning this size and I won't wake up tomorrow 14 sizes smaller..... Gotta love that man for putting stuff in perspective....lol

We will do this together!

Hugs!

Pam

I'm into my week two. I lost about 15 pounds pre-surgery with the shake diet. Other than that I'm stuck. I can't get the amount of Calories I SHOULD have in, and I think this may be the issue.

However, what I have learned in my readings are:

Lose slowly to maintain better.

Losing slowly helps the skin adjust better to it's new body hence helping with loose skin issues later.

My husband tells me the same thing! Looks like we're all in the same range as far as weight loss. I'm thankful for this site. It's easier to accept hearing the truth from others in the same boat.

I think it sounds like you're doing pretty good. I'm 8 weeks post-op and have lost about 30 pounds. The last couple (or three) weeks have been slow, but I'm hanging in there.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
