How long before your shoe size changed?

Recommended Posts

Many people have said they needed smaller shoes after losing weight. I cant wait. I wear a 10 2e, which are as big as a surf board.

I need to buy a new paid of tennis shoes, but am hesitant if my feet are going to change anytime soon.

Those who lost a shoe size, or width, how long before you noticed it?

I have heard people say that to0 but it must have to be a lot of weight. I have lost 46 and haven't noticed any difference.

I have lost 65 pounds and have gone from a size 7 to a 6...it is pretty weird to realize that you loose weight in your feet too!

I dont think it has to be all that much weight. Over the last year I have lost 54 lbs...14 of it was in the last week. I went to my post op 1 wk appt, and my shoes kept falling off..they were never loose like that. I dont know if I just wasnt retaining any Water or what, but I know my shoes were really loose.

After I lost 20 pounds I noticed my shoes didn't fit well anymore. Really bummed because just before surgery I bought 2 brand new pairs of tennies (to make sure they didn't discontinue that model as they usually do and then I can't find a comfortable pair)...and now they don't fit and I haven't even worn one!

Well, I previously wore 8w. I was shopping during the summer, and still had to buy 8w, after loosing 100 lbs. But, a few weeks ago, I needed to wear shoes for a funeral. (I mostly wear sandals, as I live in Florida). My shoes kept flip/flopping on my feet at the wake. The morning of the funeral, I went shopping. I bought 7 1/2 mediums. Wow! what a wake up that was. Now, I need to replace most of my shoes, even the strappy sandals.

So, basically, I think the change happens for most of us at different times, just as the change in clothing size does. Great thread. Karen(kll724).

I agree that it is probably variable for everyone but especially related to Fluid retention

I have gone from a 10W and 10EE to being able to wear normal 8 or 8.5's

I have lost 100+ pounds total: at first I didn't need the wide unless I ate salt (reason for my salt/fluid comment) and recently I have lost the length I am a year post op with a recent bandversary

So beware as my friends are making out raiding my shoe closet now..

As to your tennies: I was able to wear them a little longer by wearing thicker socks but my sandals/pumps that are too big cause blisters so no can do:thumbup:

I went down a size or so around 60 pounds or so (well, 75 from my highest weight). Since then, there hasn't been any change. I'm in the same size shoe I was when I was at goal previously, so I think this is it, for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
