November 15 banders group

Recommended Posts

5 days.... no coffee and holding strong. Wow. I feel kinda clear like I'm not walking around in a caffine cloud. Well I must say I am eating everything before monday except no alcohol either. I know its wrong but I want to eat things that wont really be an opition. Eating the bad stuff has been liberating in a way because it doesn't taste good anymore. 1 more day till shakes good luck everybody and Happy Halloween.

Wow...glad to see so many of us scheduled for Nov. 15th, my Mom's bday!!! Anyway, my preOp diet consists of high protein/low carb. So I've been doing a mix of shakes, meat, eggs, lf cheese and good veggies so far it hasn't been to bad. I'm nearly a week into and I feel good.

I'm just committed to doing whatever will make my surgery outcome and healing more successful. My surgeon requires this type of diet to reduce the fat and size of the liver, which lays over the stomach.

My approval journey was relatively short. I had my first WLS appt Sept 16th, all of my clearances were submitted to insurance (UHC) Oct 12th an I was approved on the 20th and scheduled for sugery this past Monday. So quick and I'm glad b/c I would like to have reach a small goal by my bday (Dec. 9th) and definitely seeing results when I ring in 2011!!

So excited to have a group to keep up with!!! Yay!

Well I got the final insurance approval!! So looks like this will be happeneing. It is funny but the way I have been drinking shakes and 3 oz of Protein everyone keeps telling me how if I just did this and not surgery I would lose the weight on my own.....but how realistic would that be eventually i would imagine I would get starving and eat everything in site. I had a mini melt down last night about if this is the right thing to do.. I guess I am scared..not so much for the surgery but for my quality of life afterwards. I pray we are all the success cases!:)

Hey everyone! I'm Kim and I have Nov 15th at 8am. I am on day five of my pre-op diet which is medi-fast. However only the shakes, Soups and pudding. I have done well with the diet but emotionally it has been tough! Day three was probably the worst. I also gave up diet coke (my coffee) which according to the doctor I didnt have to do until after the surgery but I decided I might as well go ahead and cut ties with it now also. Its great that we have a thread just for our date. I am looking forward to reading everyones story and sharing mine. This board as been a huge help for me. Although my journey from Consult to Approval did not take a huge amount of time, I have spent the last four years reasearching this so I knew everything had to do and I had all my documentation. I have BC/BS of Nebraska and the took the full 30 days to make the decision. I will be off work for three weeks after the surgery. Keep me posted and anyone message me if you would like. :frown:

HI Kimberleec and welcome! I also have researched this thing front and back LOL ..I still can not believe it is coming up soon. MY journey with insurance has also been pretty short I started around the same time as you. I went to the doc yesterday and signed consents and got my surgery day paperwork. Yeah we have to take some thing to clear our bowels the night before. the nurse said me and the toilet will be frineds for awhile that night.....How is everyone hanging in there?:frown:

Thanks Purple for the welcome. I am hanging there today at this moment....LOL. I have done all my pre-op paperwork, have my prescriptions for pain med and nausea. I am pretty sure I am ready to go, now just waiting on the 15th. I need to update my ticker because I have already lost 9 lbs., five days into this but I dont remember how...oh well I will figure it out soon enough. So sorry to hear about the night before cleansing you have to do (YUCK). Hope it goes well. How are you doing on the pre-op diet? I think I am over the hump and it should be smooth sailing for the rest of the two weeks, at least I HOPE!

Hi, I wanted to find people who were having surgery on Nov. 15, to inspire, chat and swap war stories. Nov. 1 is day 1 of liquid diet, butI wanted to start the no more coffee process today.

If your surgery is for Nov. 15 jump in an introduce yourself.

It took me almost 1 year of an extensive paper trail, but I finally made it. I have Aneta they are tough. I am excited. I am also worried at the same time. I like to gather as much info as possible so having a Nov. 15 group would be cool.

Thanks

My surgery is november 22nd and I am also excited and nervous! I start a 14 day preop of Protein Shakes :frown: on sunday.... ugh! I am sure we can share war stories.

i am responding because i am going through the same thing. Last night, my friends told me that i should just do this food intake reduction myself and not go through this surgery. So naturally i had a meltdown last night. I know that this is the right thing and now i feel like i have to prove it to myself and to my friends..... I am banded on november 22nd. Please stay in touch.

Hi Csolo! I go back and forth with my anxiety about it. I had my final doc appointment yesterday and they were so nice. The really put me at ease. Today is day 5 of the pre op diet and I am craving food worse today then any of the other days yet..but I will get through..this is all temporary and hopefully the outcome of me being healthy is what will be next! PM me anytime if you need support!:frown:

Hi all, wooopppie were getting closer. I had my pre-op apt. yesterday.

Kim you rock no soda ( coffee) I am glad you did that I gave up coffee cold turkey 2 weeks ago its better to get off it now.

I cant believe you all get to have a little something other than shakes. boo hoo Im only on shakes day 6 today no cheating. I guess I wining about it alittle. oh well

Ok, my pre-op- getting the lap band standard size, there is for all out there that may not know a low profile port a smaller port. I'm getting that my sides are pretty small so i dont want it to show through my skin so the doc said I would be a good candidate just a FYI for those interested.

Being on the shakes is not too bad I have lost 8 pounds in 6 days so I'm happy.

Glad we are all on the same page....

Have a great day all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
