I'm just about to finish my 64oz now. I drink 16 oz during my morning workouts, I make myself drink another 16oz before I let myself have lunch. Then 1 hour after lunch I start on the next 32 oz. Then there's the other things I drink, Powerade zero, hot tea, iced tea, crystal light.. etc.

However, I am 18 months out from surgery. If you are recently banded you are not expected to be able to drink the whole 64oz right away, or at least, according to my doctor "it may be a while before you can get the whole 64oz in".

Do your best and it will eventually get easier. Keep a bottle or glass of Water with you all the time. I like to play online computer games and make a point to take a sip everytime I score. Silly, but it works for me.

I am 5 days out, and have a bottle with me constantly, but small sips will never amount to 64 oz a day. I love drinking Water, but impossible to get down 64 oz.

At 5 days out you won't be able to get the 64 in. Just keep trying. On a normal work day I def get over 64 oz of liquid in. In the beginning, I could not do the whole 64. Give it time.

I had a hard time with it until I spoke to my Doctor about it and he assured me that I could take larger sips than I was taking at that time. I was so afraid after reading horror stories about people throwing up after drinking too much at a time.

But sure enough, I took slightly bigger swallows (not large gulps mind you) and now it is fairly easy to get my liquids in daily, I usually go over the amount I am supposed to have, once I start really drinking more in the evenings (my usual habit).

I don't think I could get down completely clear Water though in that amount, at least not just yet. So I am doing a combination of clear and crystal light and some homemade iced tea with splenda. I also count in my hot tea, which I like to enjoy daily.

It's tough to get use to drinking that much each day, so the best thing to do is build up gradually. Guzzling Water is not the way to go either. If you can keep water with you at all times, that'll help. Seeing it will remind you to take a sip or two, which leads to another sip or two, etc. I would say that after about 4-6 weeks, you'll be able to take in close to 64 oz each day.

One of the side benefits that I noticed was how smooth and soft my complextion became as I stayed on the habit of drinking water each day.

With all the diets I've tried in my life, drinking water was one habit I was able to keep doing for several years. After surgery, I was only able to drink 8-16 oz a day, but I slowly got back to the full 64 again.

You can do it!!

You most likely still have swelling from the surgery which is why you feel so full and unable to drink 64oz. This will go away soon and you will be able to drink again.

Hang in there!

Yes. I find when I don't, I'm tired and struggle with staying on plan. I usually start my morning with a mug of Decaf tea (about 12 oz) and then carry a 20 oz bottle of Water around with me all day. I make sure I drink one bottle between each of my meals and one in the evening. I don't find it difficult at all to get my Water in.

I've also found that I am not as tempted to eat between meals (no cravings) now that I'm drinking water instead of crystal lite. Even the artificial sweetness made me crave sweet things...and I'm generally not a sweet eater.

I don't get it all in, but do my best to stay hydrated.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
