I don't get it? PIZZA??

Recommended Posts

I am one week post op and started the mushy stage - I tried to get cottage cheese down and it would not go. I have been testing things, so I tried some bites of pizza and they went down no problem. I know I shouldnt even try, but I am just curious as to why some foods go down that shouldnt?? Anyone else have this issue? I eat cream of wheat, Protein Shakes and Jello fine, then today I tried a brownie bite and it went straight no issue and so when I took a bite of pizza, I thought this will never go, but it did!!! Puzzles me. Any of you out there can relate? I am not going to push it anymore because I am afraid. I also had a huge hernia repair that the doctor said was one of the biggest he had seen. I have 70 pounds to lose.

Wow on mushies already! I guess different doctors have different rules. I was on liquids for the first week and on the start of the second week I started cream Soups and watered down cream of wheat. Anyways, as you go along with the band you will discover that almost ALL unhealthy foods go down the band just fine but please don't sabotage yourself. I hate that I even started eating chips, m&m's and Ice cream a few months ago it really stalled my weight loss, but I am back on track now. I didn't even try junk food until 4-5 months but when I did it was hard to stop. I was so disappointed with myself and felt like a loser!!! So my advice to you is don't tempt yourself with even tasting pizza and brownies because it's easy to get hooked again.

You have no restriction yet, but the reason for the mushies and all is to let your stomach heal and the stitches to adhere, I am not here to preach but don't screw up all you have been through to test things out, you are not ready yet let your stomach heal and don't risk making yourself sick and messing up all the surgery you have worked so hard to get. Good luck in your journey!

I could eat ice cream, creamy yummy fatty Soups, and french fries all day long but I shouldn't so I don't. I was on liquid for 3 weeks. You can split your stiches in the band. Just because you can does not mean you should. It is more of a mental wellness and control then a physical one.

I can pack away a huge hamburger from In N Out if I wanted to, but I can't for the life of me eat an egg. There's just weird exceptions I guess.

Understand completely. One week out and I got sick on Jello. Probably won't ever eat it again. Tried a nut today and no problem. Not pushing it though.

You really need to stay to your doctor's orders. Your stomach is healing. I did liquids for two weeks before I went to soft food. I have found that there are some things I can eat and I'm surprised and others I can't. No rhyme or reason, everyone is different. I can eat a piece of toast but I can't eat pita bread. I can eat pizza and I do but I don't eat as much as I did before the band.

Be careful and let yourself heal before you start experimenting!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
