Tomorrow is my day!!! I have to arrive at the hospital at 7am. I am so excited to begin this new mission!! I seem to be a bundle of nerves right now, but not sure why, I think it is just all the emotions at one time!!

Hugs,

Good morning everyone, could anyone explain to me how to add the ticker tape to my postings. I'm tech challenged but they look so cute.

Hope everyone who is banded is healing nicely. 4 more sleeps for me. I don't seem to be losing anymore on my pre-op so that's a little scary. I'm just going to have faith:crying:.

Hey guys! I'm back and banded! YAY! Was banded on Wednesday. Everything went really well and I was able to leave that same day. I feel great, not really sore. I woke up from surgery with really bad back pain, they told me it was the gas. As soon as I could get up and walk I did. I walked 3 out of the 4 hrs I was in "recovery". It helped A LOT.

Nights are kind of bad because I'm not one to sleep on my back or sleep sitting up for that matter but I guess it comes with the territory. I'm glad everyone is doing well.

Congrats on the new October bandsters. Can't wait to hear about your journey.

Yeahhh I am now banded! Feeling great no nausea, and it took 45 min for the surgery. Dr told me I had a hernia so he repaired that too.

I am a little sore around incisions, but not that bad.

Good luck to all the other bandsters!

Well done - i will certainly take your tip about walking around after surgery - anything that will help get rid of the gas pain which I hear many people talking about - my husband suggested standing on head to get the gas to move .... Jude

Hi

I am an October Lapbander too!! My surgery was on Monday 10/4. I am 4 days post op. The only problem Iam really having is the gas. I am having terrible heartburn. I have been getting up and walking and trying to burp but it hurts so bad!! I have no regrets though I am so excited!!!

Good Luck to all the Octoberbanders!!!!

Two days out with the band. One problem I seem to be having is...the meal plan they gave me is too much to keep up with. Every hr supposed to have Protein Shake or Soup, or Jello 4-6 oz, and in between drink my liquids.

My incisions are pretty tender, and I know it's just temporary.

I had my surgery 4 days ago (Tuesday 10/5) and I too am finding it way too hard to keep up with the meal plan the nutritionist provided for liquid phase... I think part of it is that I don't have any hunger right now, and part of me is freaked out and doesn't want to stretch the pouch.... even 1 Jello, eaten slowly freaks me out.... it's technically 1 cup, and even though I'm taking about 1/2 hour or more to eat (and it's considered a 'full liquid') I don't want to stretch out...

I'm not eating anywhere close to the meal plan... I'm scared to say how much I've been eating because it's so little... but I'm not feeling faint from lack of food either... I feel guilty when I log into FitDay ($20 download version is MUCH better than free online) and see how many calories I should be eating...

And silly, gross question... when did you have your 1st post-surgery BM? I've been peeing regularly, but with no solids have not yet had a BM. Not feeling constipated at all, and in fact just started farting today (yay! who ever thought that would be exciting - but now relieving gas less through painful burps)...

Hey Alisomniac...we had surgery on the same day. I just had my first bm today. I started drinking a hot tea that gets things moving yesterday....it worked! But now that things are moving, I'm a little nauseated, so I've had to take the anti-nausea med the dr gave me. Other than that, I'm doing really well. My appetite is slowly coming back today. I really haven't felt hungry. I called my dr today and they said I'm right on track for recovery. I hope you're doing well, too.

Before I left the hospital the nurse gave me a Pepsin shot. I told her I had already taken a Prilosec in the morning, but she still gave it to me.

I finally got my date today!! Woohoo! Feel like I have been waiting forever. October 18th they offered me the 5th but b/c of my work schedule I could not do it  I feel so much better though that I have a date and can now make plans, with time off work etc...

Who else is getting banded in October? I think it will be nice to have others to compare feelings and stories with, as we are going through this.

Good Luck to everyone! New Chapter here I come

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
