Recommended Posts

Got approval on Thursday and Surgery date today!!! I can honestly say that I am ready and can't wait to start this new life! I have visited these boards off and on for the past 3 years and it has been a journey researching and making this decision for myself, and knowing it is the right decision! :cursing:

CONGRATULATIONS:thumbup: I have my surgery that same day and I'm ready and nervous. Have so many things I want to do. Do you have to do a clear liquid diet before surgery if so when do you start it?

Good luck and post often.

Mytrice:smile:

Great! I have to submit mine for approval....how long did it take for you to get the approval? And which insurance, if you don't mind me asking...I am so ready to get this done...I am starving!

I had to do a 6 month weight trial, which ended in late June. It took 6 weeks for my insurance(UHC) to approve.

Hi Amy.

Congratulations on your 9/20/10 surgery date. My surgery date is 9/17/10, the Friday before your Monday date. We'll be banded around the same weekend! :)

I've started my 2-week pre-op diet. I am on Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar) shakes up to 6/day. Have you started your pre-op diet? Mine is really strict.

My surgery is at NYU in NYC with Dr. George Fielding. I'm nervous but excited at the same time.

Amy, Mytrice, and Maxi---Congrats on the surgery dates. I'm right there with you on the 22nd. I started my pre-op diet today. It's not liquid, but very limited. I kind of wish it was all liquid. I think it would be easier. Day one wasn't too bad. If I could only kick this headache!!!

Hi Everyone

I have to start my clear diet Monday. I saw a recipe for a apple pie and I want to pass it on: 8 oz apple juice, 1 packet of splenda,1 pinch of cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla extract.

Stay strong, Good luck and post often

This is so cool that so many of us are all going to be banded around the same time.

My surgery date is 9/17/10 and I go for my pre-op test and meet with anesthesia tomorrow! Only 8 days left - tomorrow!

Mytrice - your apple pie recipe sounds delicious! However, I cannot have it until after my surgery! I have a very strict diet per my doctor! I cannot have any fruits or fruit juice and almost nothing but Protein shakes and Water. I so want to eat other things. But I've been good.

That apple pie concoction sounds yummy, but I too am not allowed fruits of fruit juice until after surgery. But I will definitely make it then!!!

I hope everyone is doing well on the Pre-Op diet.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
