Has anyone had a flipped port?

Recommended Posts

I tried to go for my first fill on aug 25th and low and behold my port was flipped on it's side, so i have to get surgery monday to unflip it. Has this happened to anyone? Was it because I was doing Zumba the first week of my surgery? My doctor told me it was okay to do it, but this time im not doing zumba until November i'm just going to continue to do my walking :)

I had a flipped port. One side of the stitches came out. They ended up putting mesh in to hold it. It was no big deal & I was back to normal the next day. I doubt Zumba had anything to do with it. It really has to do with the fatty tissue that the dr attaches the port to.

Good luck on Monday!!

Thank you, I was nervous, did they give you fill then or did you have to wait again

I got a small fill when he repaired the port. They don't want to give too much because of swelling but 2 week later I got a good fill. It won't be much longer- :)

My port has flipped--my doctor is going to manually flip on September 28 since insurance was giving them a hard time to have revision surgery.

I had the surgery on May 25th and when I went in on July 7th for my 1st fill they found my port had flipped. I had no pain, no nothing and was totally dumbfounded. But the 2nd surgery wasn't nearly as bad as the 1st one. But I was asking the same thing you did. I'm working out at Curves and I went back to curves 2 weeks after the original surgery because I was cleared. But now, with the port revision, I made the call to not return to the gym for 3 weeks afterwards.

He did give me a small fill along with the port revision. But be very aware of that fill. It made a HUGE difference at least for the first few days after surgery. I was throwing up even Water the next morning after the surgery. Just take it VERY slow with the liquids for the few days after your surgery.

Good Luck.

My port flipped too, and I had port revision surgery Tuesday to fix it. I have no idea why mine flipped in the first place, but I know that I am being more careful this time around. The surgery was not bad, but I have had more discomfort than I expected.

My doc did go through the original incision, but it is larger now, and I guess between the stitches and the mesh, along with the fact that my port had ended up resting on a nerve, it was more painful that I thought. Now, 5 days out I am doing well, and looking forward to moving on and watching the pounds start to melt away

I did not get a fill during the surgery, but the day after at my post-op visit. I have really felt that fill, and I expect that a lot of it is swelling. I am thankful to not be so hungry...I had to wait over a month for the revision surgery!

Hope everything goes well for you on Monday.

Michelle

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
