Why go to Mexico???

Recommended Posts

Hi Diane,

I am hoping to get banded the last week of December. I REALLY want Dr. Ortiz to do my surgery. It sounds like you had a great experience there. He is a good $1,500 more than some other doctors and that really hurts. I am having a difficult getting my husband on board with this. It is a lot of money to pay out of our pockets and he is not at all liking this idea. Tell me how things have been for you since you got banded. How was Dr. Ortiz?

Thanks,

Lynn

For me it was not only financial. I truly believe tthe Mexican docs have more experience than the US docs do. I did alot of research before deciding on Dr. Kuri. He and his team are experts in this.

My daughter-in-law just had a fill from hell by a US doc who supposedly knew what he was doing -NOT. Now she not only has an empty band but a huge hospital bill to go with it. You can not convince me he knew what he was doing.

I have been in the medical field for over 25 years. The US is superior in many areas - not this one!

I went to Dr Zapada in Monterrey Mexico. My experience was great with them, couldnt have asked for anythign better. I was referred to him by my cousin and his wife who both had it done last year. i was having surgery 2 weeks from my first phone call. They took such good care of me, i would do it again and tell anyone thinking about it to do it.

The more experienced surgeons are in Mexico as they have been doing this procedure alot longer than we have here in the US. I wanted the best surgeon for the job..not going to mess up.

Did the research and got the best one and it was a pleasant surprise it was so much cheaper...like more than half. So I got the best of both worlds.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
