I don't mean to be a downer but you might find it hard to find a surgeon who will operate on a 16 year old. One you are not of age and two it's hard to determine if you are still growing. I would go to the manufacturer's website of both Lap and Realize bands look for local surgeons and see if they treat minors.

I have heard of a couple of surgeons doing the lap band procedure on teenagers. They are located in New York City and Denver CO. Not sure what the criteria are to get approved to do it as a teen. I'd suggest working with your primary care doctor. What do your parents think about this?

Hey I also live in Kennesaw and I am a teacher in Cobb. Anyway, I know how ya a feel I have been there at 15. First gather all the information you can on the surgery. 2nd present the idea to your parents and show them the research you have done. 3rd find a surgeon that’s willing to work on a young patient. My surgeon was Dr. Duncan in Atlanta. He would be a great person to speak with. However listen to me, this surgery I not a easy fix. It is not a magic bean. It takes work. You have to reprogram your thinking and be willing to do the work. Let me know how it goes. Please email me. Hope you had a great fall break. J

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
