What kind of pets?

Recommended Posts

We have a Min-Pin named Dixie whos about 4 years old,2 cats-oe named Aspen(whos actually all black little white streak on her chest),and a mullllllllti colored cat(a "tortious shell",the nice name for this one lol) who we call Kitty. LOL. We also have a Ball Python named GoatLord. Hes 3 years old and about the size of a silver dollar. We have a beta too...but he doesnt have a name=)

My mom just got a kitten named Emily as well who is the CUTEST thing in the world! My best friend works at Petco, and for some reason people love to drop of animals they find-or just dont want anymore-instead of going to the MSPCA/SPCA. So she gets a lot of weird animals-Iguanas,fish,ferrits and even kittens.I told her, since she gets a lot of kitten, to look out for me since I wanted to get my mom a kittten(shs been devistated since our Maltese,Monroe, died about 1 1/2 years ago) & I knew it would be so good for her to have another pet-and not a dog. So soon after that someone dumped 4 kittens off in front of the store before they opened in a box with a note saying "cant take of these anymore" I dragged my mom down there & these 2 bonded instantly!! Since then Emily has been the most spoiled, loved cat Ive even seen! =) Doesnt that just make you all warm inside? Hehe :)

This is a fun thread!

We have a 7 yr old fat black lab mix named Buddy, a 6 mo old Daschund/Beagle mix name Sadie, a black and white tuxedo cat named Peppy, two parakeets - one is green named Petie, the other is blue named Tweetie and one Russian tortoise named Franklin.

The puppy is fun, but what a pain to get her trained. My hubby promised he would train her if we got her and it's yet to happen!

I love looking at all your pets! Its a shame I cant figure out how to post a pic. I have two cats, Katie (short for Katilin) who is brown tabby 2 y/o and Brandi whose nickname is porkchop because she is much too large in the midsection. Both our cats come from the humane society and are just the sweetest things on this earth. Love them both to peices!

Our baby is a male poodle, red with a white chinnagin, chest and a few white toes. I love dogs but DH is allergic. He always did well with a poodle my parents used to have so we gave it a shot and his only regret is not getting one sooner. I named him Mr. Hobbs.

We also have 330 gallons of saltwater reef tank.

Up until very recently we also had my ball python from when I was a kid (Juba) and an Abyssinian guinea pig (Rodman) that I gave to an old workplace, then took back once I saw how they were treating it.

I have a very cocky Pembroke Corgie, He is sable and white. We were able to aquire him in a rescue, papers included. He is a big dog stuck in a small body, But he is so cute you cant stay mad at him for very long..and he KNOWS IT. Today he wouldnt stop barking at a squirl and when I went to put himin his kennel He jumped up and kissed me, bugger. I dont know how animals do it but they can have us wrapped around their paw in no time. Im glad he can stand up to my sons, he keeps them in lline, He herds them!

I have four cats, and boy they are a handful!!! I have one male Manx, he's the prettiest of all of them...he has the marbled feet (Grey, black and white), his name is Junior and he is about 10 years old. I have a black kitty, she is like velvet she is so dark...I just love her! She is my only girl kitty (name: Lucky), I found her at the local JC underneath a car as a baby; she's about 5. I have two brothers that I saved from my own brother's family (bunch of nutsos!), one is yellow with dark yellow stripes (name: Tiger, aka: yellow and poopie, cause he can be such a poop towards Lucky) and his brother (Tigger) is dark grey with black stripes and a hint of yellow tint. I'd like to have more cats but my roomie says he'll kill me if I bring anymore home, though they tend to gravitate towards him than me and I am the one that saved all of them :ermm I love them all as they are my source of entertainment.

ickytazz, can I come and kiss all of those puppy faces? I just love the droopy lips and the teeth are just too much for me, I am in love. We are waiting for a pug, a dear friend has a male and his mom bought a female this summer, as soon as they are ready to breed, I have 1st choice. I care for their furbabies when they go on vacation so they are giving me choice. I can't wait. Like I said the thheth are just too much for me, I fall in love. ~Mandy

Hi everyone,

I have 2 dogs, both from the pound. Sammie is a Shepard/Chow mix (so they say) the the most friendliest dog. When we first got her at 16 weeks she hopped into a neighbors car to go for a ride. She will also go inside a strangers house and make herself at home. (I have to teach her about talking to strangers.) My other dog is a pitbull/wippet mix. She is very protective and loves the kids, and coffee and getting under the covers to sleep. I also have 5 ferrets: Ice, he's all white with pink eyes, and the oldest. Nikkie, Sable, Mingo and Cailin Kong because he is sooo fat. And we also have 3 surviving pond fish.

If I had farm I would have a lot more animals.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
