I have to give you an update! For all of those that read my last thread about no restriction. I went to the Dr. on Friday for a fill. I saw Dr. Tran because Dr. Mahtemework does not work there anymore. Dr. Tran drew out all the saline in my band to see just how much was really there. To my amazement it was only 5ccs not 9. So he gave me 2 more so now I'm up to 7 and I HAVE RESTRICTION! OMG its scary but I'm happy I finally feel like Im on my way. However I have to go back on June 11 to make sure its not leaking - if it is leaking I will have to change my port - Im not happy about that but I think my previous fills were not going into the port. I will keep you posted! Good luck to eveyone on the journey to good health!

SO glad to hear that you were able to get this resolved (for now)! Crossing my fingers there is no leak and this magic 7 ccs is the level you need to be at to get to goal! Restriction is SUCH a beautiful thing!! My God, for the first time (dare I say) I HAVE IT TOO :-)!!!!

congrats, if you find you have a leak, dont panic, it is pretty easily taken care of. I had one in my port and because of that I wasted several months, so dont fret, watch your restriction, if it starts going away, then schedule the repair. I was so glad I did.

I am scheduled for my 1st fill on the 11th of June. I am so ready for it. I had surgery on the 11th of May and I have not felt like I have any restriction at all. My will power is weakening. I am only supposed to be eating 2-3 ounces of Protein for 3 meals a day but having a rough time sticking to that. Poor not horrible choices but I need to get back on track for sure!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
