Could you post an average menu for a day for yourself?

How about exercise too? Can't discount that.

My doc told me it usually takes 5-6 fills before you feel restriction. Don't panic. We are all differnt and our bands are moody. Continue to follow the eatting plan your doc gave you and make sure you are getting in enough exercise. Keep at it and it will catch up with you. Our bodies are stubborn about weightloss which is why we got the band.

Keep getting fills until you have restriction and then you will eat less and you will start to lose weight. I have a 14cc band with nearly 14cc's in it so it took many fills to get to restriction. Be patient and keep chugging along.

I guess I'll be the bad guy here.

Keep eating pretty much everything and you are never going to lose the weight.

The lapband, no matter how many fills you get does not make you lose weight. You lose weight by eating small healthy meals and exercising. The band is just a tool to help you feel satisfied after eating those meals. It is not a magical weight loss device.

You actual do the work.

There are a few rules you should be living by:

  • Drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day
  • Eat only 3 meals a day
  • Cut your food small
  • Chew every bite 25 - 30 times
  • Do NOT drink during meals or for at least 30 minutes after meals.
  • Stop eating when you are no longer hungry
  • Do NOT drink high calorie drinks

If you use a site such as Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate to record everything you eat and drink, you may be surprised to see how much extra calories you are eating.

If you follow these rules, you will start losing.

Good luck

I'm going to have to agree with btrieger. You can't just eat everything and expect to get healthy and lose weight. When you say "everything," seriously - could you expound on that? Cause I am at perfect restriction for me - really. I think I can eat about a cup or two of food and that's it. It depends on the time of day, tbh. BUT - it REALLY depends on WHAT I eat as to whether or not I lose weight. I can sit around eating candy bars, Cookies, and ice cream all day long and complain that I'm not losing weight. Or I can change my diet and eat healthy foods FIRST and leave only a very tiny allowance for junk...and here I am - losing.

So give us a specific menu idea of what you eat in a given day. How many calories are you taking in?

Yes, I am currently losing weight again. (whew) I had gained 25lbs when my band wasn't giving me restriction and now I have lost nearly all of that and I can work on getting to my goal weight. I can eat barely anything though.

There's no need to be rude. I'm not a mind reader. Hence the reason I asked TWICE what you were eating on an average day. I still find it interesting that you refuse to state, exactly, what it is that you eat. But go for broke, honey. Obviously I don't know what I'm doing AT ALL.

Took me somewhere between fill 4 and 5 to get decent restriction. The period between healing and good restriction is very tough - it messes with your mind too! Stick with the fundamentals, work hard and you won't be disappointed.

Go easy on the other responses  Everyone is quick on here to assume people are being judgmental but it's more along the lines that they care and want you to be successful - otherwise they wouldn't bother even hitting the respond button.

A lot of people (most all of us at some point or another) came here because we really needed a swift kick of reality - and there's normally a line to administer it. It's a good thing that causes the fat to continue to melt.

Yes, I am currently losing weight again. I can eat barely anything though.

Trust me... this is not a good thing... :tt1:

Brad

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
