I have a somewhat low BMI too - I am about 38. I am really excited but keep having moments where I am like, am I really going to undergo surgery by choice? My beloved boyfriend is supportive of me but is understandably wary of the entire process. My family is not necessarily supportive and I haven't really told that many other people. I wouldn't say I am having doubts, I am sure I want to go through with it because I realize there is no other way it will come off, I am just uneasy or wary. I am trying to think of the right way to express it. Sort of like, in reality, I know this is the right thing to do, but then there is this side of me that is like, really? You have to have a surgery to help you be not fat? I would love to know your thoughts, if you ever felt this way and how you feel now, looking back on your decision to get the band. Thanks!

Hey guys..... don,t worry I was just like you worried to death. That is natural to be that way. I started out at 195lbs. and I have lost 33lbs so far still slow to loss but I am doing it. My doc also did not require me to go on the pre op diet. I ate right up to 12 the night before surgery. Any questions anyone.

Did you gain weight in your first week? I am keeping hydrated and eating the things I am suooised to but have slightly gained this week. I am not sure if it is from all the excess gass or just more calories now that I was getting prior.:(

Hi-

I am 10 days post op and yes i am still hungry sometimes. This is a learning process, I am still not sure how many calories I should be taking in or how much I should be eating at each meal.

I meet with the nutritionist on Tues 6/15 so hopefully she will shed some light on the situation. I have lost 8 lbs in the 10 days so I am happy about that. Who knows maybe I should have lost more but I haven't and I am not going to beat myself up because of it.

The post op diet for me is actually harder than the 10 day liquid pre op diet I have no idea why.:( I am staying upbeat and focused.

Just remember that everyone is different, and you will lose at a different rate from someone else. Drink plenty of Water because when you start to get hungry that definitely helps !

Good luck to you !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
