I finally did it

Recommended Posts

Well I had surgery over three months ago. Everyday since surgery I've been telling my self to go join a gym, and start exercising.

I did it today. I joined the gym.

Now I just have to make myself go and exercise

Way to go!

I have been a member of the Y for over a year - now if I would actually go! I used to go three days a week, but, over the summer, they changed the rules concerning children at the gym. My little ones go to the nursery. My bigger one is no longer allowed to go in the nursery with them, but she is not allowed in the classes or workout rooms either!!! How's that for stinky!?!?!?!?! Guess I could go during the day since she's in school, but the whole not being allowed to take her is such a GREAT excuse!!haha

Good Luck - I know you can do it, and just wait until you see the results from working out - hot mama alert!!!

Go Nickie!!

I have only been going for a couple of weeks, but I am starting to notice a difference in my energy levels - and I have lost 8 lbs...

Treadmill, bike & eliptical...........

It's not what I would call FUN - but, it isn't too horrid after the first couple of times.

Good Luck!!

Congrats, Nickie. If you're anything like me, getting there the first week and a bit will be tough, but after that, it becomes habit. Now I feel horrible when I miss it. I enjoy exercising for the first time in my life and it makes my mood for the day good :)

Good luck with it all and know that if ya need a kick to get back on track, that's what we're here for LOL.

Congratulations! You may have to kick yourself some days to go, but once it's done and over you feel SO much better. I try to swim when I get a chance and it makes me feel so good. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
