Happy bandaversary !! - thoughts/comments

CONGRATULATIONS Mamadot. What a success story. The Band is an amazing tool. But the credit goes to the individual who decides to make a change in their life and sticks to it.

Weird about the chocolate. I never ate it everyday. Now I am hooked on the Hershey dark choc. mini bar. I only eat one at a time, but if I have them, I will eat one every night.

What's up with this?

Congratulations again to all of the Mayobanditos!

Well today is my bandiversary. I'm down officially, 81.5 lbs. I'm happy, but it wasn't the goal I wanted to meet for my one year. This past year has been so difficult in so many ways. I feel as though I've really struggled with the band, but all in all, I've been successful. Since then, so much has changed. I moved to another state, moved in with my boyfriend, am far away from my family and friends, was hospitalized for a week, etc. It's been really trying but also great in many ways. I wouldn't change anything that has gone on in my life since May 20, 2009. I am healthier and happier and love life again.

Happy bandiversary to everyone.

Happy bandiversary, Carrie! Look at how far you have come! I didn't get to where I wanted to be by one year, either, but that's okay. We have made such amazing changes! I'm sorry it's been such a tough year for you in so many ways -- and the band is challenging enough! But hang in there, because you are doing so well!:thumbup:

Congratulations everyone! My bandaversary was May 21st. I had hoped to lose a bit more than I have but 55lbs in a year will have to do. I fight for each pound and if I'm not exercising every day I stall. I have stopped stressing about it and am doing my best to take it one day at a time. I will reach my goal hopefully by next year I will have reached the 100lb mark and just keep going little by little from there. I am back into an 18 and feel A LOT better. Just need to stick with it and take a step at a time!

Congratulations, Minxz - 55lbs in one year is an amazing accomplishment! Take a look at an average 6-year-old child, and that is what you are no longer carrying around on your body. Slow and steady wins the race - and even though it can be frustrating to not have quick results, I think your body adjusts better when you take it off over time, plateauing and maintaining along the way. You seem to be on the right track and in the right frame of mind - continued success over the next year!

Today is my one year bandaversary. I am very happy and excited about the new and wonderful change in my life. I am not only healthier, happier, and skinnier...I am the person that is enjoying every second of life! I am doing things I never thought I could do before. I am able to do things and run around with my kids, I run marathons, and most of all I am comfortable in my skin when I am out with my husband. I wouldnt change a thing about this last year. I am a couple pounds from goal and I just had a Tummy Tuck and feel amazing. This coming year is going to be even more wonderful. I look forward to hearing from everyone. I hope this group wasnt a 1 year lived group. I truely hope we all keep checking in and encouraging one another. Thanks for all the support this first year. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations, Renee, Minxz, and Less of Me!!! You have all come so far and worked so hard this past year. I am so grateful to you and all of the mayo Banditos for coming here time and again to band together (ba-dum-bum) :drum:and form one of the greatest support groups for each other! I also hope that we will continue to check in and support each other as time goes on. This is a lifelong journey, not a short-lived diet. It takes everyone a different length of time to reach goal, and there are struggles along the way (boy, do I know!). And maintenance isn't going to be a piece of cake, either (mmm... cake....), and if you're at all like me, you might still be struggling with "head hunger" or emotional eating. Like many on here have said, it's too bad they don't make a band for the brain.

Anyhow, every single one of us deserves a round of applause for the first year under our (now tighter) belt! Please keep checking in, Mayo Banditos.:tea: :):thumbup::tea:

And now for the Dancing V itamins!!!!

:lol::party::tt1::party::party::party:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
