Paul, calm down and take a deep breath...you are having a totally normal reaction. We have all been where you are. You will get through this and it will become a part of you....natural.

Paul,

I have my surgery on friday and am starting to freak out ... I'm 30 year old man acting like my seven year old son... I am putting up a pretty good front of not being scared but its just that a front.

Hey Paul...I hear that more than once myself. I managed to lose 20 pounds prior to my surgery. Pretty soon my hubby learned to keep those kinds of comments to himself...I think the deathrays shooting from my eyes may have clued him in...lol. You are gonna do fine.

Good luck, Paul! Everyone has the jitters to some extent before surgery! You will be fine, you won't have to stay on a liquid diet forever, and soon you will be taking on the next hurdle. You can do this, and you'll do great! Cindy

Paul - general anesthesia is a beautiful thing. You don't feel a thing, remember a thing, and you're just "out." Its not like dreaming, it is very different, and I liked that it was just done . . . like I wasn't there for the surgery, just done when you wake up! Good Luck, it'll be fine!

Congrats on your big day tommorrow!!!!! I was just banded on the 7th and it was a really positive experience. I was out within 15 seconds of them giving me the magic potion and I woke up not even knowing surgery had happened. I had to feel for my incisions to be sure. Recovery has been going well. You will do awesome!

Yep, once they give you that cocktail, you're out like kraut. Feels pretty darn neat.

I have had several surgeries and I was still a nervous wreck, its only normal.

Good luck tomorrow Paul and friday JCJSTL....... your gonna be stud muffins before you know it :D

You both will do great and you'll be so happy!

I painted a mural, a wall mural, the day before my surgery.

I didn't talk to anyone on the phone, just wanted time with myself, hubby and kids.

You both are doing a wonderful thing for yourself.

I do not regret it at all, and I'm sure you won't either.

Thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Ok guys, relax. I just had mine done on Monday AM. And like they said it's not that bad. You are out and don't feel a thing. They have great pain relief drugs in the hospital and the nurses are really nice. I felt pretty bad when I got home tuesday afternoon, but soo much better this morning already. I was lucky I had a weekend with my girl friends right before and it kept my mind off of the surgery. The anticipation is much worse than the actual reality of it. Good luck to you both, honestly it's not that bad and I am a wimp.

Its normal to be nervous. I acted like my 7yo daughter before hand. Waiting for them to roll me into the OR, I was so close to sneaking out of there lol. You'll do fine though. It really is a piece of cake.

*hugs*

Paul

Are you a filmmaker? I visited your website. Just wondering. I'm going to USC grad film school next Fall. I love these new collaborative filmmaker ideas like you seem to have on your website. My good friend (who writes about half the scripts we produce) started an Internet movie where he set up the premise and the characters and people can submit their own clips of the movie. From there we piece it together. It gets pretty hilarious! He's got the same thing going with a machinima movie.

On another note, good luck with your surgery! It's never as bad as we think it'll be. Focus on that new, sexy you!

Everyone, welcome to Bandlandia! You will do just fine during your surgery. I am always a big baby, blubbering like I was 4 or something. You will be just fine!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
