Leaky Port :(

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am at our hotel and doing very well. I woke up a lot easier from my drugs than I did last time. I noticed right when the nurse had me sip juice that I have restriction! YAY! Not a lot, but a lot more than nothing! My Dr didn't want me to have to be empty anymore. Also Dr k showed the port and tubing to my mom and it has a 1/8 in tear in the tubing. This is the 4th time it has happened to one of Dr k's patients. He told her that he is meeting with the company that makes them on Friday to discuss how they should be financially responsible for not only the part cost, but the cost of the patients replacement surgeries as well. So we may get our money back for this one! Too bad I can't make them magically lose the weight I gained in the mean time. Oh well. I did really well my first year and plan on doing that well again this year. Plus I exercise a great deal more now than I did then.

Thats fantastic news lotzasunshine....way to go:thumbup:

I got out of hospital the other day but am still in a lot of pain.

I had my 3rd port put into a new place and now I have 3 incisions to heal this time....2 of them are 3 inches long and one is smaller.

I am in a lot of discomfort but hopefully that will be over soon and it was 3rd times a charm.

Take care

Ouch! Sorry! My dr just went through my original port scar so I just have the big one to heal again. I am pretty sore today, but the second and third days are the worst though right? I hope you feel better!

48 hours after I start to really feel it for about 3 days then I seem to start to go on the mend. Everyone is different though and I guess the worse the swelling is the worse the discomfort.

It takes me so long just to get over the after effects of the anisthetic though....I have foggy brain for ages, which I guess is nothing new really LOL

I had my second port put in the same place as the first but it didnt take well as the operations were fairly close together, so thats why he has moved mine to a new spot this time.

I am sure yours will be fine as you had a fair while inbetween your band and this port replacement by the sounds.

I still had scar tissue there from the first port so it wasnt taking properly.

I feel like frankensteins bride when I look at my tummy.....but people tell me that the scars will fade and its only been almost 7 months since I got the lap band in the first place, so I am optimistic that they will dissapear a lot more over time

Yeah, the scars will fade eventually. I had my band almost 2 years ago, and I can't even find one of my scars. My bigger one will probably stick around a lot longer, but the others are going. Sorry it takes you so long to deal with the Anesthesia. I am holding my own pretty good today with lortab and ibuprofen.

ok, so I am almost 2 weeks out from my port replacement and doing fairly well. I did have to get my lortab refilled. I had trouble sleeping. Still am not losing. But I figured I would have to get a fill right away anyway. I am wanting to ask you all your opinion on something. Dr K said he would be going after the manufacturer for the cost of the surgery and such. What I was wondering, is should I make a case for extra? With all the flights, hotels, recovery time, weight gain, wasted time etc.? What do you all think? I have obviously never been in a position like this before and would love some input. Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
