How much weight have you

Recommended Posts

Just wondering - I will be starting pre op liquid diet on 5/5/10 - and thought I would ask how much weight everyone lost before the surgrey....thinking I might lose 5, maybe 10 lbs - or am I way off base thinking that! Looks like mine will be all liquid all the time!

When is your surgery? I was told I only had to do a one week pre-op diet but decided on my own to do two week and I lost about 15lbs on that.

Thanks! The first few days are rough. Believe me. But keep reminding yourself why you're doing it and it does get easier, believe it or not. If you're hungry in between meals drink lots of Water. If you cheat then you're prolonging how long it will take to get easier and possibly upping your risk of surgery complications.

My pre-op diet was pretty strict. I only drank 5 or 6 Optifast shakes a day with the occasional egg drop Soup or maybe a fat free chobani greek yogurt. Nothing else. And if I had soup or yogurt it was in place of a shake and not in addition to the shakes.

More power to ya, MrsCabes! I only had to do 2 weeks of the stuff. I didn't cheat either, but it wasn't fun. Do they have a "blech" smiley?

Oh, it was HORRIBLE. I was never so happy to start the puree stage after surgery!

I think we need a "puke" smiley.

They told me I could eat the leftover packets after surgery - HELL NO! I threw that crap away!

Mine went in the trash, too!

I have friends, a married couple, who are doing Medifast by choice! They really don't have much weight to lose (especially her, 5 lbs), and I can't get over that they are doing it!

I made it through with my eyes on the safe surgery prize, but otherwise, yuck!

I started my 11 day Pre-Op diet on 4/11 and my surgery is on 4/21.. almost there!

I'm drinking three Protein shakes a day and can have raw veggies (which I spray with lite dressing) ..sugar free fudge pops and all the Water I can drink.

The 1st few days were pretty hard..but it's a little bit easier now..

I would suggest maybe cutting down on carbs before you start ..so it won't be so shocking to your system.. I really wish I had done this..

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
