Hi there,

i'm planning to go for the lap banding within afew months and willing to pay for it but then thought that if i could get an insurance that covers the procedure yet still gives me the rest of the year of health care coverage then that would be much better, even if the insurance plan it self is to cost the same amount the lap banding would.

so is there any insurance plan that covers the procedure even if it comes at a very high price ???

Thanking you :) ...

Yes, their are insurance companies who will cover the surgery, United Healthcare seems to be one of the most consistent ones giving approval. Alot depends on which state you live in. My suggestion to you would be to do a search under your state for insurance information. This might be helpful to you and provide you more specific information for your situation.

Good Luck.

Cindy

I have United Healthcare and was approved within 8 days from submitting the paperwork. Another important question to find out is if you coverage excludes weight loss surgery. UH covers WLS but if your specific policy has an exclusion UH won't pay.

Good Luck

LOL - you may be the first person on here asking insurance questions about Kuwait... I would find a banding surgeon first and ask them which insurance company they have had the best luck with. Good luck! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
