The many faces of Sleep Apnea

Recommended Posts

I live alone and have nobody to take my picture but this one is real close:

My pets never complained about my snoring. That is because my dogs snore louder than me.

Hi Mike: It's Eileen. When I saw your picture I couldn't stop laughing. This is a hoot!!!!!!!!! I love your sense of humor. I hope you are doing fine after surgery and thanks again for a good laugh. How are you feeling since surgery? Have a great day.:tongue2::wub::smile2::laugh::tt1::thumbup:

I haven't been retested yet and have had my machine for two years. I know I need to go through another sleep study but I don't really feel like it! I also am afraid that I'm now addicted to the CPAP machine and won't be able to sleep without it, lol. I don't know if I'm the only one out there that feels that way. Nancy.

I feel the exact same way as you Nanook. Our power went out this past weekend for a few hours in the late evening, and I was practically having a panic attack because the thought of sleeping without my CPAP is scary to me.

I had night terrors several times a night and woke up constantly before I started getting treated for my sleep Apnea.

No way do I ever want to experience those again.

I took some pics with the mask on and after careful consideration decided this thread was silly and I shouldnt have started it! It looks horrible! My original thought was to take some funny pics, you know, working out with it on, driving in the car with it on, and the like. But heck no! The only one that gets to see me with the birth control mask on is my wife! Oh yea, lets talk about trying to talk with it on. I sound like stinkin darth vader with the air rushing out of my mouth while I am trying to talk! Its all kinda funny, still trying to get used to it and get the right mask. Have a good weekend all, Wayno:thumbup:

I've had my CPAP for a few years and have tried different masks but I just can't get used to it. I haven't had a good nights sleep in years.

My Doctor said that I have to wear it at the hospital so I'm going to start wearing it tonight so I get us to it before my surgery on 3/31/10.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
