  1. 1. Have you noticed any moodiest since the surgery?

    • Oh heck yea!
    • Some ups and downs depending on the day.
    • No, not all. I feel great!
    • I think I feel fine, but my family thinks I am mood!

The last couple days I have been trying my hardest to be happy and upbeat, but it seems impossible to shake the frustration I am feeling. I am losing 3 lbs. a week, so I know that isn't it. I am on anti-depressants, but the doc who is in charge of those said it is too early in this change to tell if I need to change doses or something. I was wondering if I am in this boat alone, or are you feeling similar???:)

My daughter was banded in Dec of 2007. She has taken antidepressant for years. She also got pregnant after the band was placed so she had all those hormone issues to deal with. After the baby was born and the weight was really pooring off of her, she went through a really rough time. I wondered if it was a postpartum issue but it makes her mad to suggest that. She left her husband for about 6 weeks with 4 kids. She got past it and is now back home and is busy and working and going to school. She might have also tried to just do too much which is always a problem for her. Anyway, maybe you should look around at the rest of your life and maybe pinpoint something significant that you can work on changing. Are you exercising? A brisk walk can do wonders!! Hugs!!!

Do you maybe have SAD, Seasonal something disorder? Not enough sunshine? My MIL gets this, there is some type of sun lamp that she uses to make a vitamin(?) in her body and helps her with it. Sorry I don't know much about but she has been having the blah's the last week or so.

I am 6 months post-op and think the moods have leveled off. The first couple of months I was crabby and I knew it. My friend at work would say to me: Eat bread! and that would make me laugh. I have found I am much more outspoken since surgery. Some I attributed to moodiness, but most is from a feeling of taking control of the part of my life that has always been so out of control and that has spilled into other areas of assertion.

OR maybe I am just a BEEOTCH! LOL

We definately have a lack of sunshine, here in Washington. That could be it. Thank you for the ideas, I am going to go walk as we speak. Thanks for all the support!

Here is a theory from my Dr. Women store estrogen in there fat, so when we lose weight that estrogen starts to effect our body and moods until we are able to dispose of it. Basically we are doing a big DETOX right now and all that built up chemicals are going to run their course through our bodies. So we all may go through mood swings, but it might not all be from losing our dear friend (food). This information helped me realize that I am not just becoming untolorable, but I am just having hormonal mood swings.

Hope this helps you all too!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
