Hey Bob, Did you hear that in the Health care bill there is a provision for restaurants to have to post the amount of calories on the menu if they have at least 20 locations? I know we all don't agree on the health care bill but I am happy about being able to make an informed decision when I do go eat out. It sucks to eat out because you just never know what you are getting.

Do y'all think its the delayed spring that has us in this doldrum attitude? (Its here at my house too)

Hey, Bob--maybe when you're in the doldrums, you should post anyway. It might make it easier, in some small way. You don't have to be perpetually positive. Let us bolster you a little when you're down.

(I'm in the up $200 camp.)

Bobbie and PhD, glad to have you here.

Leigha, I forget what I was going to post to you. Good lord, I am losing my mind. Oh--yes! I am looking forward to having more-accessible nutrition information, and I think it will be a real eye-opener for the American public, in general.

Gloria-I am doing the no-hands thing. It has made a difference to me this week. For some reason (I'm betting PMS), my band is playing tricks on me--and instead of being tighter in the morning, I am ravenous as I approach dinnertime, but tight as a drum & finished with the meal almost before I start.

Customarily, that approaching-dinnertime time is the time when I pop something in my mouth (while cooking, serving, whatever...) Not stuff I shouldn't have, but something from my measured portion, but eaten inappropriately. Well, with a fickle band, that didn't work very well! So the no-hands thing has helped me feel much better and actually get some dinner in me!

I go in for Fill #3 in the morning--and am looking forward to it. I am really approaching good restriction, I think--but am not quite there yet. I hope to eradicate the mid-day ravenous-ness.

It's now officially Spring Break. Well, for Preston. We celebrated by getting him the second in Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove series. I am so thrilled he's reading this--he's gone from a kid who likes reading well enough, but wasn't particularly inclined to do so unless he had to, to a child who voraciously reads 600-900 page books.< /p>

I knew that if anyone could do it, Larry McMurtry could do it.

Okay, I guess I need to stop procrastinating. Winter seems to be returning, there's wind gusting around my house, and my poor Truman, who enjoys wind flapping his ears, is telling me, "Oh, no you don't, woman! Put on your shoes! We're going for a walk!"

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi my friends! I certainly missed you all! I have been on my a$$ with strep throat all week! Should still be home, but I managed to drag my butt into work today! I am scanning updates, so i am SO sorry if I forget anyone. You know I love you all LOL

Betsy-- I bet as I'm typing this you are seeing under 200 regularly on that scale. Your posts are so positive and inspiring to the whole board and I know that is what is going to get you to onederland before you know it!

Leigha-- how are you my friend? Has the .5 fill made a difference? Dying to know how you're doing with the additional fill.

HB--First, CONGRATS on getting to 80 lbs!!! Wooohooo! Doing the happy dance for you!!!!! I hope you're feeling better. This weather has definitely been the cause of all the illnesses in my neck of the woods!

Cocoa--welcome back! How was vacation?

Bobbie--Welcome!

Dizzy---100 lbs! You go!!!! What a terrific milestone! Congrats!

Bob--I'm with Betsy and the $200. Nice going!!! It's $200 of found money :-) Treat yourself to some new skinny clothes, my friend!!

So, my husband is in DC all week for work and just informs me that he may need to stay another week :-(! I mean, it's wonderful that my mom is next door and is good company for me, and helps me take care of the kids, but I miss my honey. It really stinks. Oh well, I'm using a lot of the free time to exercise with my sister, who also lives next door. My Ab Coaster came on Tuesday and I was counting on hubby to put it together--hmmmm I might just need to venture into the unknown and put it together myself--I'm dying to use it!

As crappy as I feel, I power walked 2 miles yesterday and did my Just Dance Wii game the night before. My head felt like it was going to fall off, but I just couldn't lay there anymore :-(

I posted a great Mexican chicken crockpot recipe for anyone who wants it. I have to get the 2 bean chili one up there too. Delish!!!

Hope you are all well!!!

I just wanted to check in and let you know I may be disappearing for a day or two. I'm in a state of shock this morning. I woke up to find an e-mail from a friend letting me know that a dear friend, one of my spiritual mentors, was taking a tree down yesterday when it fell the wrong way and hit him in the head. He was airlifted to the medical center and had surgery to remove the blood on his brain. He's now in ICU with severe injuries to his face, back of the skull and several vertebrae. At this point they don't know whether he'll be paralyzed and/or have serious impairment of his mental faculties.

To all my band friends who pray, please pray for this young man, his wife and toddler son. If he survives, it will be a long long road to recovery. Thanks.

Elfie--sending prayers for your friend and his family. I hope I haven't missed an update. I'm so sorry to hear this news.

I hope you are feeling better , physically at least. You will be in my prayers too my friend. ((HUGS))

Have a lovely week and weekend everyone. I'm running away to Ohio to visit family for the last part of Connor's spring break and won't be back 'til Sunday. Steve (my band) is still giving me heck from the fill last week so I'm curious to see how I'll do eating what other people make and praying I don't spend the whole time miserable.

Have a lovely time and no more talk of that snow stuff. We didn't get any but my best friend who is in NW Arkansas (couple hours away) got 8 inches...in March...the week of spring break, that's just bizarre.

Hey, maybe Ohio has better bra selections than AR?!?!!! Off I go!

Christie--safe travels to OH and I hope Steve cooperates and you get a nice bra to compliment your diminishing ladies :Banane20:!!!

(And I am gonna pretend that I didn't see the "S" word in your post, as I've seen enough this season to last me a lifetime LOL)

Bob, I'm so glad you're back on board, $200+! I agree with Betsy- it's good to have a place to share, no matter what we feel or is going on.

Betsy- congrats on 200-!

We're getting snow tomorrow here in CT! On the other hand, the crocuses are in bloom and trees in bud.

Did my walk, practiced eating, etc., etc. It's not necessarily getting any easier- I sure hope the band helps! Not up to not eating with my hands yet...

Hello to all!

That would be great if they had the nutrition info right there. I don't like going anywhere spur of the moment anymore because I don't know what to get. Anytime we do go somewhere I look up the calories and decide what I'm going to get before hand.

I can't keep up with y'all! I need to check this more often!!

Elfie-Sorry to hear about your friend! I will pray for you and their family.

Congrats to everyone on the losses....and BOB--don't sweat the gain. Bandster Hell is well....HELL. It gets better...slowly, but it does. I'm still partially there myself. I can't eat a ton, but it doesn't stick with me for longer than like an hour. We'll get there though.

I don't do Farmville...but do any of you do Treasure Madness? That is my new FB addiction lol. Used to be Farmville.

Happy Friday everyone! (Crystl's Saturday)

I lost that pound I gained last week and another on top of if. Let's just hope I can keep it off until my official weigh-day of the week, Wednesday.

I was determined never to see Bandster Hell and I am going to fight it as hard as I can. Come on April 21!

Betsy congrats on reaching Onderland! By the time I do that, cameras will be projecting 4d images to the viewers.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
