I am 5 weeks post op and have not had any port pain since about week 2. Now I am feeling periodic pinching type pain when sitting or getting up. I thought it was from my jeans rubbing but it has not gone away. It is more uncomfortable then hurting. Is this normal? I don't recall doing anything that would have caused the pain. Has anyone else experienced this?

I was banded 12/23/09 and yes, I've had the same thing. I thought the port pain was all over with, but last week, out of nowhere, it came back for a few days. I saw my surgeon and he said that is because my body is losing the fat around the port and that it was completely normal. Hang in there.

I was banded on 12/9/09. I started doing sit ups a couple of weeks ago and I started getting a burning sensation around my port. I went to my dr and he sent me for an xray to be sure the tubing was all connected and not twisted. Every thing was okay, but he told me to find a different type of core exercise to do. So I think we just move wrong to try to do too much and it irratates the port or surgery sites.

Just my opinion...Dr said I could get my first fill now YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for responding makes me feel better and makes sense. I figured it was probably normal but I am all paranoid that the port will flip or something. I need to stop reading some of these threads

Yep, it's normal. My port 'bothered' me in one way or another for about 8 weeks. Then, just as they predicted, it no longer did and I barely remember it's there.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
