My Fills Nightmare

Recommended Posts

My doctor has had the worst time finding my port. The first time I was not able to get a fill and he stuck me probably 15 times. I was sore for days. Had to go have it done under an xray machine or something. Got it on the first stick under the machine. 2nd time to get a fill almost the same thing. He stuck me 10 times and was very upset that he was unable to get it but tried one more time and got it. Thank GOD! I am supposedly at 6 cc's and have no restriction whatsoever. Very dissappointing but I keep struggling with it. Some days I am good some days are not but as long as I am not gaining I am happy.

I have an appointment at the Fill Center tomorrow morning. This will be the first opportunity to let them know that I was not being filled properly. I am going to ask them to give me an additional year of free fills. Wish me luck!

2911, Good LuckI hope they honor their agreement with you. They should have checked the port and with drawn some. My Sureon and PA both do.

After 3 weeks of misery, I had a deflate. the fill isn't the problem. i had a sinus infection then have had probems with sinus drainage- coughing, vomitting,. unable To eat/drink. so after struggling with everything else, i bit the bullet and had a minor deflate, today, .8 cc. At least i can now get enough to drink. Maybe i can eat by Monday.

I went back to the fill center yesterday and spoke with the head NP. I met her for the first time. I explained what I had gone through and she was very understanding. I told her that my surgeon had filled me to 4.5ccs. She wanted to determine how much saline was in the band because she could not believe there was such a huge discrepancy. She withdrew the saline and recovered nearly 7ccs of Fluid.

I am so confused. My surgeon is the one who is wrong!!!??? I saw the saline for myself. She started with an empty syringe and withdrew the Fluid and showed me how much was in it. She gave me another .5ccs for a total of 7.5ccs.

At least I have restriction now.

I had a fill on Friday 3/19/10. I am pretty tight right now. I can only keep liquids down. Sometimes if I drink Water too fast it will come back up. As tight as I am right now, I know I will be on liquids for a while.

I am curious. If you were ever too tight, how long did you stay on liquids before the band loosened or you went in for a slight unfill? It has taken 10 months to get to restriction and I do not want to lose it. If I can endure for a fews day, then it will be worth it to see the weight come off.

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Thank you 2911 for sharing your story with us. I found some encouragement reading it. I am one who had surgery in May too and haven't lost much weight at all. And have been really discouraged. I am 7.25cc in a 11cc realize band.

Every time i see the LAP-BAND® commercial i gringe. I havent felt restricted yet. I can eat over 1.5 cup of food at a time. So I go in tomorrow to get a fill. Yes, i keep a food journal and have been going up and down the 3 lbs so i can not wait to loose some weight and find my sweet spot.

I am praying that they will give me just the right amount to loose weight and get this party started so to speak.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
