started this journey at 424 pounds- now I'm maintaining

Recommended Posts

Hi:

My name is Sandi and I was banded in May2004. I started my journey at 424 pounds and 55 years old.

Every day is exciting as I discover more and more of my new found abilities since I have lost 250 pounds. I am starting to believe that there is nothing I can not do.

This was hard work, but the rewards are amazing!

No more medication, no more C-Pap machine, minimal aches and pains.

I am a new person and I want to share all the little secrets and tips I have picked up along the way. I am offerring to mentor anyone who needs a friend to ask questions, hold their hand, provide factual information when emotions get in the way of good choices and generally just be there to listen to what you are currently encountering on your journey.

I am so passionate about sharing the wonder and the zest for life that I have achieved that I have started a blog of my journey from day one of exploring this miracle they call gastric banding surgery, through surgery, mytransformational weight loss journey to now, maintaining a 250 pound weight loss and living my new life; http://www.sandisbandedliving.com

Each and every day provides an amazing gift. I am passionate about sharing those gifts with everyone who will listen.

you are incredible as well my friend. The numbers never cease to amaze me. We have lost between us 463 pounds. Can you imagine? It is all so achieveable when you have a tool that finally helps with the physical hunger issues and gives you a "hard stop" reminder when the emotional hunger issues kick in and try to gain control. I love the banded living life!

Hi Nicole:

I had my surgery in Ventura CA where I live. I understand about not having insurance coverage because my insurance company would not pay for it so I paid out of pocket. My doctor included ALL of the aftercare forever with the price so I was lucky. If you are having the surgery done in Mexico just be sure you have a local place to go to for fills and post op care as well as for support. I'd love to speak with you also. Email me at sandi@bandedliving.com, or send me a PM. You may want to check out my blog or go to my website at Lap Band Support, Lap Band Forums and Information to get more information as to what helped me and others be successful. I'm here for you! When are you having surgery?

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
