thinking of getting the lap band....

Recommended Posts

Hi I am here to learn as much as I can about the lap band. I am thinking of getting the surgery. On monday I am going to a seminar that the doctor gives to learn about the procedure. I am also looking for the right health insurance to buy and hopefully cover the surgery. Thanks to everyone for sharing all of this so people can read it and learn if this is right for them.:(

I went to the most amazing and helpful seminar ever... it really helpsed!! It was so nice to be around previous patients who were very honest about their experience with the lap band..to be honest what I loved about this particular seminar I went to was that most people who worked their were former patients..so at any point in my journey...I can contact the secretary and just chat with her and ask her questions because I know...she was once there before!!

Ahhh..i'm soo excited..as I am sure you are!! Good luck to you!!! :):)

that's awesome. One of the things I learned on this journey is just how incredibly important it is to find the right surgeon with the right after care program. I'm convinced that it really ups your chances of success if you find a practice that you want to be a part of. Good luck!

Thanks atgoalgal...I really got such a good vibe from this practice..I know it was the first seminar I went to but after talking to the other patients and staff...I think I have found my Drs. They have a private practice and really cater to the patients needs...all the patients there had the Drs. cell phone numbers!!!

I'm so excited!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
