Ok. I was banded on 9-29-2009. I have lost 33 pounds. I had no retriction after I was banded and could eat anything ( even though I did not) I have a 14 cc band. My doc put in 3 cc's and still no resrtiction. I mean I went to Vegas and had the buffet which I know is a big no no. However I did not eat the amounts I would have before the surgery. He gave me 4 more CCs of a fill tottaling 7 ccs now. I have some restriction now but still not enough. I can still eat alot more than I should . Put it this way I could go to Mc.Donalds an get the big mac meal and not relaly feel that full. I am not doing that but I have eaten 3 pieces of pizza in one sitting which every one I know that has had the surgery said there is no way they could do that and they have less cc's than I do. I am getting frustrated. I thought I should have more restriction by now. I guess I thought when I got the lap band that I would have immediate restriction and feel full well this is not the case. I also have my sister bitching at me saying. How can you eat a full meal I thought once you got the lap band you could only eat kids size portions. I am sure I should have lost more than 33 pounds by now.Advice anyone I really would appreciate it

You have a large band. Most of the people I read about have much smaller bands. I too have a large band, I have the 14cc as well. You are going to require allot more Fluid in your band before you start getting good restriction. Just be persistent. Make sure you keep going in for fills. I was going in monthly for fills. It will come. Stick to the diet. Eat in the right order and keep clear of Big Macs. It will work. You can do it, look your down 33 and that’s great!!

Good Luck!

I don't think there is really anything to do except stick with it and keep getting your fills. SOoner or later you will get the restriction you need. I know it's hard not to be impatient. I definitely need more restriction as well.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
