Calling All January 13, 2010 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I'm set for the 13th as well. I'll be the second surgery that morning! I am excited and lucky as my surgeon does not require any pre-op diet except for a clear liquid diet the day before the surgery. For those of you who fear the surgery; some fear is natural and to be expected. I have had one laproscopic surgery before and I was thrilled to find out it didn't hurt very much at all. I was home walking around my hilly yard in less than 24 hours. There was some soreness on standing after sitting a while and on getting up in the morning, but nothing major. You can do it! We can do it together.

Hi all,

I am Jan 13 too - and am on day 8 of my pre-op diet. It has not been easy - I was plagued with headaches for the first few days of the diet. But for the last couple I / my body seem to have gotten the hang of it.

I know I have lost a few pounds - I can feel it - but I have promised myself that I will not stand on the scale till the last day of the diet.

Six more days to go - I have tonnes to wind up at work - since I am taking 2 weeks off starting the day of surgery.

Good luck to all

I said the same....I will NOT get on that scale till the morning of my surgery!!!! One of my "issues" is with that scale of mine...I never seem to like what it says and staying off of it is my best defense.

That said I went to my pre-op appt. with my surgeon today and guess what he made me do!!! You got it....stand on his scale. Well I'm down 17 lbs and I couldnt be happier...I now feel content knowing that I'm going to shrink my liver and I'm not so concerned about that possible complication. So here's to 6 more sleeps...5 more days of pre-op diet.....and then is JANUARY 13th!!!!!

Gonna be a great day for all of us....CHEERS

I am also having surgery on the 13th. Day 3 of liquid diet and I am starving. You know it is bad when you look at your dog's food and think they are luck for eating solid food.

Nervous about surgery as well. I have read up on this and death in this surgery is supposed to be 1 in 2000, however it is still scary

My surgery is January 16th :frown: I'm excited, scared and nervous!! I start a 1 week pre-op on Monday Jan. 12th. I've talked to ppl that ate the healthy choice frozen dinners the week of pre-op diet. My paperwork says 5 days b4 surgery to begin a " low residue diet" (eliminate nuts, high Fiber breads and cereals, raw fruitsw and vegetables and limit milk products). Also drink Miralax twice a day & take one dulcolax tablet daily at bedtime. Day b4 surgery clear liquid Breakfast, and continue Clear Liquids for the rest of the day. Then at 6pm mix remaining Miralax in 64 oz Water and slowly drink until #2 is clear :) Nothing to eat or drink after midnight!!

Is there anyone out there with the same Preparations for surgery?? looks like a lot of Jello, fish, chicken & broth on my diet this week.........oh well......gonna be worth it in the long run :w00t:

Seems to be a huge variety of pre-op instructions out there. Just do what your surgeon says and you'll be fine. Its not as bad as it seems...I am on day 12 of my 14 day pre-op and I'm doing just fine!!!! Can't wait for Wednesday....wooohoooo. A month ago I thought the 14 pre-op would be the hard part...now I think the immediate post -op is my next hurdle. No matter...I'll get through it all and be happier and healthier by the day!

I am STILL laughing about the solid dog food comment! That was just too funny!!!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm drinking my muscle milk and heading to work. I'm really glad I'm working right up till surgery so that I can keep my mind occupied.

Hey everyone. I get banded tomorrow morning, first thing! I am right now very nervous but not to the point that I would change my decision.

My biggest fear is that I have forgotten something or that I haven't prepared enough. Although honestly...if I did forget anything I have my angels (hubby and sis) to get it for me so I need to just chill out.

Full liquid diet today was really rough. My nephew had his 6th b'day party. Tons of food (all that I love) and the biggest chocolate cake I've ever seen. I was sitting there eating a Greek yogurt and a Fuze drink. And to my surprise I did just fine...so after that kind of a day...I KNOW I can do this. And so can ALL of us.

Best of luck to EVERYONE and Take care. Can't wait to post when I'm home on Tuesday.

Does anyone think of canceling their surgery? I'm scheduled for tomorrow and I'm scared.

OMG... I am scheduled for tomorrow 1/12, I have so thought about cancelling!!! I've lost 4 lbs on the preop. But now I am more nervous than ever about having the actual surgery cuz I'm thinking I can do it on my own... OMG... I need this help cuz I know I can't!

sdh5463...You`ve gone too far to abort the procedure. Pull the trigger! Almost everyone I`ve spoken to has told me their only regret was they did`nt get the (Band) years earlier and would do it again in a heart beat. Good luck, I`m going in tomorrow myself....1/12/2010 for my surgery. Good luck, and go for it!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
