No fill for 2-3 months!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on October 6th, and have so far lost 20 and a half pounds. I have had a couple of episodes of food getting stuck, and one gross "slime" episode. I am totally honest with my nurse, and last thursday saw him for a follow-up, and he said no fill for two to three months (due to these episodes.)

I am kind-of bummed. I want the loss to continue, and I am afraid that I'll gain in the couple of months to come.

Just thought I'd share my predicament with all of you!

Sheryl-

Sorry to hear about your no fill. It does sound like you're doing just great...It's hard to remember that this isn't a race but that slow and steady wins in the end. You're lucky that you got such great restriction coming out of the gate...most people have to have several fills to get to your level. If I were you, I'd count my blessings!!!

Have you not had a fill at all?

Nope. I have not had a fill yet. I still get food stuck due to my enthusiasm for eating...I eat WAY too fast, and I have to work on that.

I am going to try to keep track of how long I feel full, cuz nurse Kurt asked me if I stay full for at least 4 hours. I honestly cant say if I do or not.

I am going to focus on exercize and loading up on Water during this time of waiting for a fill.

GingerRenay2...you seem to be doing great!

Megan, nice to hear from you, and yes, I guess I should count my blessings, but I feel as though maybe I'm not working this the right way, you know since I can't have a fill yet...it's just how my weird mind works.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
