Hello.

I'm Karla and I am 19 years old. I had my LAP-BAND®®®®®® surgery on December 16th. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts on how to reach my goal weight that would be great:)

I was working out 5-6 times per week post surgery, swimming and jazzersize (with grandma) and plan on getting back into that regiment soon after the soreness goes away. Pre-op I weighed 323, Post-op I weigh 307. My goal weight is 130:) Hopefully I can get down to my goal weight in a year and a half. Sooner would be better of course but if you have any suggestions please post them.

Congratulations. You have already started one goal, and that's the fact that you want to get back into the exercising as soon as you can. My suggestions would be to weigh and measure all of your food when you move up in stages. When you start to guess at how much food you should eat you tend to always give yourself a little to much food. I weigh and measure EVERYTHING and continue to lose. Follow your plan that your doctor gave you. If you 'cheat' once and awhile don't kick yourself too hard because we are only human. Just pick yourself up and get back on track. Try not to 'cheat' to often though. Our saying at the support group is 'Everything in Moderation.'

Good luck to you. And Happy Holidays.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
