Pre-approval frustration
Something tells me that the surgeons office knows which insurance companies are harder than others ton get through. They put those on the front burner. The easy ones go on the back...to wait to be scheduled when the doctor is more flexible. I was told a week ago that my paperwork was submitted and it would take 5-10 business days. I've heard of some people getting an answer the SAME DAY. They don't know that I know this, so I called insurance 4days ago, and they said they hadn't gotten any paperwork :-/ go figure. I'm being patient tho, I may have to wait til March for surgery because of vacations on the job...

ok PREbandsters, what's for breakfast!
Could it be the acid from the OJ? Can you have a banana instead? I ask only cause I want to know what other options I or others may have when we get to your stage of the "renewal"

good idea
I would be willing to exchange, donate, help out anyone I can with what I have. Right now, I'm have size 22/24 spring and summer dresses for those that would like them. No charge from me. I know how expensive clothing is and if it is only going to be temporary why spend the money...this is my way of paying it foward!

I'm just having a Carnation instant Breakfast (vanilla, altho I like the SFchocolate better) and some fruit...trying to get ready for my (non required) pre op diet. Those on pre op diet, feel free to post what you're eating (drinking) too! Give us some good ideas!

Insurance Will Cover 100% Of Lap Band Surgery United Health Care “choice Plus”
Isn't it amazing how if you "upgrade" it comes in handy??? Since I've had children, its always been a better choice for me. With the number of visits I make to the peditrician, it is so worth it in the longrun!

wait, wait, WAIT
So I give the good people of Anthem BCBS a call and they say they haven't received anything on me!?!?! I'm being a patient little bee, I'm going to call back on Monday. Omg, my BP is going up just waiting. I am sooo ready to get this phase over with!

so and so had surgery and....shut up (vent)
Keep to your guns...those who don't know the process, the research that you've done or the soul searching have no idea what it is that we go through. Gossip is just that...gossip! They hear stories and by the time it gets to you it has been totally changed!

Watch Out! Here I Come...

S L O W doctor's office
What I found to be helpful and it was suggested by the staff at my surgeons office was to email them. She said they are at their computers all day and with the phone calls that they're making to our insurances, they multi task and answer emails. They either check voice mail in the morning when they get there or right at the end of the day. Ask if it would be easier to send emails. I emailed my girls at 2pm and had a response by 4pm that same day!

what documents???
Call them and ask for clarification on the documents needed...and get it in writing and check off everything that you get before you submit for approval. Good luck!

Good but expensive NSV
I can't wait for my NSVs! I refuse to buy anything other than sweats until summer. I have my goal set for a new suit/dress for my sons high school graduation in June. I'm excited and anxious to see where I will be at!

Both the husband & wife was banded how do you cook for the kid
Think of it this way, the cycle of abuse of food starts NOW! You are giving him tools to use when he's older and can make healthy choices for himself. Good luck!

Is this stupid...?
I totally understand! The pre op is to shrink the liver making it easy for the surgeon..mine doesn't require one either, but for my own piece of mind I thought i'd help her out :-)...based on what I've researched, high protein, less fat...chicken (not fried), turkey, leafy green veggies and a protein shake to coat your tummy are just some of the things I have tried. I've lost almost 5lbs just doing that every other day or so and I have more energy! Good luck!

February 2011 Bandsters?
I think I'm going to stroke out! I am still waiting on a response from my surgeons office...something tells me I won't be able to be banded in February...I can't even get them to tell me if the sun is shinning outside! Please return a call respond to an email....dag!

**NEED HELP WITH DOUBT**
I totally understand. I was at a support group meeting for all types (RNY being the majority) and they just kept telling me and telling me that a RNY was the way to go...no...not for me. I've done my research and do believe that a lap band is best for ME. do not be bullied into something that you don't want. Stand up for yourself and the band. it's small in numbers, but it's something that needs to be done. Good luck!

The discourse/converstion on this forum
Amen! I believe that most are looking for someone to say , "it's ok that you had that whole pizza to yourself and that 2 liter of DIET coke. You did good by choosing DIET." WTH!! OMG! Hve some accountability for your actions. Your band can not see that you basically are totally relying on it to save you from yourself. Good post!
-
Why so rude?
I'll admit to being one of the rude ones :-( In my defense, there is a reaction to every action and I'm a person that doesn't like to be picked on if I happen to be in the minority. I also will speak up for those who don't have a voice. But really I'm a nice nice person! :-D

I'm so happy!
