  2. Pink Dahlia, For me personalty it took like it seemed a long time to get to that sweet spot as it is called. You will know when you are there because it will start to hurt if you eat to fast, to much at one time. Just take your time eating and listen to the band the first time you get the feeling that it might be to much stop! I will say for me it is hard to stick to it as far as how much protein, water that they want you to consume in a day. I haven't been active like I should that darn Face book has sucked my in So that is my goal this year is to get off my butt. My husband and I both done it at the same time and it's been about the same for him as well. Our Dr gave us very small fills this last year, so we have been able to eat pretty much whatever we wanted up until now that we are at our sweet spot. So now it learning to listen to it and working with it. I do try and eat my protein first before anything else and sometimes that's all I can get down. Sometimes think I'm not getting enough calories and that can make you not lose as well. Let's face it if we exercise, counted our calories, and logged everything we wouldn't have done the lap band. I do not regret doing it and I'd do it again and I'm thankful that it is helping me to achieve my goal to be lighter and healthier. Several people I know have done the lap band and the first year was a slow process for them by the 2nd year they started losing so I'm excited and this is my year to lose 30 more to meet my first goal! Good luck to you all!!!
  3. Wow Jan 6, 2012 was my one year too!! I am just like you and have lost about 40 lbs myself and thought I would have been down more. I am just now at my sweet spot so I'm hoping to start losing again. I don't eat much so I don't understand why it's not coming off. I just take it one day at a time and pray I will be successful. It is disappointing to read all the stories about how much people loss in a year, but I realize everyone is different. I know I'll get there and I'm keeping the faith. It is nice to hear that there are others like me. Thanks and best of luck to you!!
  4. He don't have cramping but his body sure is making noises, He drinks propel do you think that could cause it? Not to much process food. I have still been cooking our meals like before but using leaner meats. He isn't eating near as much as he use to. I'll get him Immodium and give it a try. He has been doing using Pepto Bismol
  5. Hello Anyone, My husband and I was both banded in Jan of 2011 my question to anyone is I have a hard time going #2 and he has had diarrhea. Any ideas on what might be causing it? He drinks a lot of Water where as I try to get down 32 oz of liquid. It seems for him it doesn't matter what he eats he's spending a lot of time on the pot. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks Dawnzy
  6. I also get a pain around my upper left shoulder in the front when I eat to much. I haven't gotten that stuck feeling as of yet and hope I don't push it. I'm sure it will happen some day.
  7. I was banded on Jan 6, 2011 and I'm in Olathe. The Bariatric Center of Kansas City did my surgery in Shawnee Mission. So far so good down 21 lbs. I like getting on this web site it helps a lot. People ask thing that deep down you want to ask yourself but don't. It is a great support. I haven't went to one with a group except the one that was required at the beginning of this process. Good luck to you all....

  9. Well I am 19 days into it and I am right there with you. The first week I felt restricted but now I can eat pretty much anything. I haven't try a lot of stuff for fear of all the stuff that could happen. It don't take much to feel full but like I said I tried more than one thing at a time and haven't had any problems. Now that I've said that I'm sure something will happen I kind of wish it would make me feel miserable that way I'll think twice before I eat something. My biggest fear is am I stretching my band that's what scares me. My husband was banded also so it has helped that we are doing this together. Good luck to you all "WE CAN DO THIS" as my 11 yr old son would say "YOU GOT TO WANT IT" oh boy do I ever!! Looking forward to the skinner, healthier me
  10. I was banded on Jan 6, 2011 and I haven't gotten my first fill yet. However I think I might be eating to much I can eat a cup if not more depending on what it is. It does keep me full and I have gained a few lbs but from what I've been reading on here from others, is that this can happen not to worry. So now I'm going to be mindful of what I'm eating, which is all the stuff on the list. I was thinking now that my body has more than just liquids it's like I'm holding on to the food. I'm just scared I might be stretching my pouch . Sorry I'm not helping you much but thought others could chime in on me as well. I find it hard to get all the Protein and liquids down so I know I'm not taking in to many calories , Thanks
  11. Thanks everyone for the tips. I'll work on it. He is ready and welling to eat healthier with us. All the snack foods are out of the house and replaced with fruits. We are still on the soft food diet so it's just been hard to find things for my son to eat. We have cut out eating out so that should help as well. We will get there. Do any of you know of any websites I could visit to get good recipes? Thanks again!!!!!
  12. Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to cook for the kido? My husband and I was both banded this month. My son could afford to lose a few lbs himself. I'm trying to help him with this since he is just a child and can not be banded of course. Are there things to cook for all three of us that follow the guide lines of what is expected of us but be a better choice for him? Any suggestions would be great.
  13. Well I'm 12 days into it and I'm just now feeling a little better. I had a pain in my rib and my upper left shoulder that every time I eat or breath it hurt. I just figured it was because I was eating to fast or to much or gas. It hurt like heck!!! So far the rib has let up but almost every time I eat anything the sharp paid in my shoulder comes a knocking. I know this don't help much but this is just my experience. I used gas x strips and walked. One would think the stomach would hurt not the shoulder when you eat????. Like the other person said just talk to your doctor they see all kinds of stuff. Hang in there !!!
  14. My husband and I where both banded a week apart. I had mine done first and I started the liquids the week of Christmas so I did cheat those 2 days only. I lost 14lbs before surgery. The day of my surgery my husband expressed that the liquid diet sucks. So the Dr. said you can cheat a little, no cheese burgers! Well don't tell a man that because for the next week he eat tuna sandwiches with mayo and cream of chicken soup everyday. I told him he better do the 2 day liquids before surgery and he did. Things where fine the Dr. never mention anything about his liver being to large. However that being said he did not lose as many lbs as I did. Hang in there you can do it!!!! I'm down 21lbs now and looking forward to reaching my goal. Good Luck!!!
  15. I'm right there with you... I was banded on Jan 6, 11 so I feel your pain friend...I'm trying the gas x strips it helps a little. I ventured out yesterday and I feel like I used every muscle in my back and neck being tense trying to take it easy. Still have the gas. It makes me not even want to eat or drink anything. Good Luck to you!!! Hang in there this to will pass.
  16. My Doctor didnt allow any food so lucky you. It was hell but I made it. I did however cheat like one time and had a piece of pizza and boy was it goood. I was banded on 1-6-11 so now I'm dealing with not even wanting to eat. It's hard to even get liquids down. I'm still in that mind set of taking big drinks and boy you don't want to do that. Good luck to you. You can do it hang in there and just think of the future and how it will be.
