    Almost Our Bandversaries!

I'm doing good..I think..have just settled in to knowing my band. Down almost 70lbs and that is after a restart from my ob cutting my tubing during my hysterectomy.just now feeling like I know my band and can go forward from here.I have 50 more pounds that I want to loose, but I will be happy with 40, that will put me at 186. I have found that many people are asking me now when will I stop that I'm getting too skinny :-D..i am far from skinny! I do need to do more exercise and use the various apps that I have downloaded to my phone and do things on the run..
  3. Some of us are at or past 4months post op..How is everyone doing? Me, I've having some issues. Wouldn't be having them if I didn't have to have a hystrectomy 2weeks ago. My OB cut my tubing to my band!!! OMG another surgery in 4 weeks to repair that. So I;m just trying to keep my spirits up. What are you up to?
  4. to the left of my belly button...right now...but I have to go back to surgery on Sept 28 because my OB cut my tubing and my Band surgeon said she may have to repostion it a little higher depending on where he cut at..

    NO Pre-OP Diet

<<<----No pre op diet. I did something small, like reduce some of the fat, made a meal a protein shake, and just watched what I ate. No fried foods or anything like that. Good luck!
  6. I am 17 weeks post op. Everything was going great and then I had to have a hysterectomy. It was suppose to take an hour and a half, be laproscopic and I would be back to work in 2 weeks. Didn't go as planned, OB had to abandon the laproscope and open me up due to adhesions to my pelvic wall and bowel. My hour and a half surgery turned into a 4hour slice and dice as I say. My OB attempted fpr 36 minutes to reattach my tubing but couldn't see where it was connected at. He did call my band surgeon and explained to her what happened and after seeing her today she said that based on what he told her sounds like he just cut it. She said easy fix because she doesn't cut the extra tubing when she places the band. The only issue would be if he cut near the band itself where then she would have to replace the whole band...smh... I'm trying to keep a positive outlook on the situation, but it is totally frustrating!!! So, I'm 13 days postop with my hystrectomy and in 4 weeks I'm going back under the knife to repair my band. This has been the 1st time that I have questioned my decision to go with the band. I know that if I went with the sleeve, I wouldn't have these problems right now but I also understand that I didn't konw that I would be going for a difficult hystrectomy so soon after my band placement. I never had surgery befor my twins were born in 2009, this next surgery will be my 7th including my c-section and my 3rd this year! Pray for me! Thanks for allowing me to vent.
  7. I would be willing to exchange, donate, help out anyone I can with what I have. Right now, I'm have size 22/24 spring and summer dresses for those that would like them. No charge from me. I know how expensive clothing is and if it is only going to be temporary why spend the money...this is my way of paying it foward!
  8. No, my steri strips started falling off about 6-7#ays post op. But like PP said, just let water roll over, but don't scrub or apply soap. I didn't have any guaze, just the steri strips. Maybe that's why they are telling you to sponge bathe.
  9. I was told 24hrs I could shower, 2weeks for a bath. Keep steri strips on for 7days then I could remove them of if they fell off, they just fell of. No scrubbing over the incisions and try not to get too much soap on them. After 7days, I used alcohol to remove extra goo from the steri strips
  10. It a day to day process. If you mess up one day you always have the next to do right! Remember what your ultimate goal is. And remember that you are human and you do make mistakes. No one is perfect, if you do know a perfect person, point em out to me so I can kick their ass for showing out! Lol...I can give you a virtual kick, but stay on the boards, stay accountable to us. I find that LBT, Facebook and YouTube keep me in check. If it works for me, it can work for you! Good luck and give your husband a hug and kiss for me for keeping me and mine safe from the loonys of the world!
  11. I had 1 slice of cheese and now I have the hiccups! They won't go away...any advice? Dora Almost 3weeks postop
  12. I have a 14cc Lapband and my doctor explained that she placed the bigger band because I have a larger esophogus. It cuts down on the risk of band slippage. She also said that my 1st fill that we were going to go "hard at it to get to restriction so that we wouldn't be doing so much poking on the band" So, I'm expecting a 5cc fill in 3 weeks. (I'll be 6weeks postop) I had heard that the 4cc bands were not offered here in the US anymore and that what we have here isn't offered in Mexico.
  13. Yay! Congrats...now you can move foward...WITH SUPPORT from your mate...good job!
  14. Make it a family announcement. Make sure that you have your reasons why you're doing it. It may seem like an ambush when you tell them, but once they are informed on your reasons why and are educated on the whole procedure itself, you should have no problem getting them all on board! Good luck again!
  15. Ok...weekends over...what did he say???? You have all of us wondering :-D
  16. Sounds like for you to keep it from him you weren't concerned that he would be upset. That he supports you and your endevors and that you don't have to tell him everything anytime something happens. You'll do fine, and he'll be there for you. Good luck on your surgery! :huggie:

    TOM weight gain...

I totally forgot about TOM! Well, I didn't really forget, she reminds me monthly... ..I just forgot about the possibility of weight gain. Thank you for the reminder, now I can go back to being my happy self. I thouhgt I had done something wrong...lol...
  18. Wellease is sold at Walgreens it is a liquid calcium citrate w/D3 $6.99. Just remember to split the dose into 2 because the body can't handle so much calcium at one time... As far as liquid multi vitamins, I don't have a clue. I'm using the soft gels from nature made. They are huge but really go down easy....hope that helps
  19. you may want to get with your NUT about what they want you to eat. What honk had for the 1st 2weeks and what I had for the 1st week. Every surgeon is different. I was able to eat sf jello sf pudding, sf applesauce, beans, cottage cheese, ff milk and the likes from day 2. I'm 2 weeks out now and I'm on real foods. it's may only be 4oz per meal, but many others are still on full liquids. So, find out what they want from you. Protein shakes are a must though. You know that you will get full easily. I found I like the premixed ones better than the powders...
  20. I'm doing great! Yeah, we're here around somewhere...I don't get to come on LBT much anymore if you want you can find me on FB Dora's Lapband Journey. So far so good with the band. I'm a little over 2 weeks out and I have lost close to 15lbs. Can't wait til I get the clearance to start working out again cause it'll fall off faster then. Keep in touch, let me...

    Need Information

I have a scale, it's good to weigh your food because 4oz of feathers is alot more than 4oz of bricks but oin the other side of the coin, you want to have 4oz of volume.... As far as food, I brought sf Jello, sf popcicles, I went and got Soups from chili's and divided them into 2oz little cups. Oh, yeah the little cups I got from GFS food services. They are just like the once that you get from resturants with your to go sauces in them. I also saved old sides containers from like kfc, boston market and I reuse those...they hold about 4-5oz of food. sf pudding, Vitamin Water 0, and sobo water with 0 calories, plus crystal lite hungar satisfaction which has 3g of protein! I still use those! Motts sf applesauce is great! good for when you want something sweet. I had lots of things, some things I didn't want, like my instant mashed potatoes and my cream of wheat cinnabon flavor. I could also use any seasonings I wanted.. Hope I have helped a little. I have found that every doctor is different and that what was approved for me may not be for you and vice versa. But good luck nontheless!

How do surgeons pick band sizes?

I was told that because I have a larger esophogus (sp) that the bottom of it was a larger opening is the reason she went with the larger band.

    Port Location

about 3in to the left and up of my belly button.
  24. Hey triplet! How's it going? I'm feeling good...better than I thought just ready for my healing to be done so I can jump totally into this!!!

  25. ok, as I was removing my steristrips 7 days post op I noticed a string hanging. At first thought it was part of the steristrip then as I pulled, I had to say OUCH! I looked closer and noticed that it was a string coming from my belly! about an inch or so but yep, it's there. So I cover it back up and go on about my day. Well yestersday, 10 day postop, the big strip covering my port incision falls off on its on. and what to I see...yep another piece of string! Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? If I cut it, will I fall apart? (I'm concerned but not scared out of my wits about it, that is why I can laugh)
