  1. my doctor was good to me so the incision is just below my bra line so that has not been a problem
  2. last weekend before surgery I was on full liquids and had my daughters high school graduation party here for about 60 people and i cooked all the food and did not eat any of it, I am telling you for those who think fat people do not have will power screw them. Then on Monday day before surgery clear liquid day npo after midnight was my 50th BIRTHDAY no cake no ice cream!!!!!! now 4th of July at camp FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. the good news now is i can hardly get in 64 oz's of Fluid let alone think about eating Darlene I am a nurse too! I am a supervisor for a habilitation center for adults with disabilities so I also am at a desk most of the day, no patient care. and what is so funny is i just told my daughter we would take the scrabble game to camp so i would keep my mind off the food and drink
  3. wow Darlene we could be twins, our 1st week sounds very simalar, I did want to have the crying pity party but instead went back on my zoloft before i slipped into poor me state. Also went out to camp for a while although had fun with friends the fact all i could do is smell the food and watch the margahritas get poured was a bit much. Each day i feel better and i am going in to work on Tuesday because i can't sit and do nothing one more day.
  4. i was banded tuesday and the bruising is just coming today, the port cite is a bit warm to touch and i can feel it. I think it is doing what it should be in the stages of healing
  5. 4 days post op and when walking yesterday i got some pretty strong calf cramps, i am thinking pottasium deficient
  6. i am beginning to wonder if i will ever be hungry again, the thought of eating or even drinking protein shakes is very displeasing to me. i am going to go with the advice of others on the forums and listen to my body so if you are hungry maybe it's from using so many calories to heal and you should listen to it
  7. my doctor would like the same mg of protein for me too but the nutrimed shakes are now nauseating me too i was thinking about trying some soup today but i don't know how that will work out. i am sipping on tea and hawaian punch most of the day. i did try the isopure water and that was gross
  8. the doctors office said i am not drinking enough fluid but i just cant get in the 3 protein shakes a day, i get so full and i go so slow any ideas
  9. thanks for the responses and I am having a much better day today, got to sleep on my side and that helped get rid of all the gas pain. I haven't even needed pain meds every 4 hours been able to stretch it out to 6-8 hope every day gets better and I can get on losing the weight
  10. I had my surgery on Tuesday and in recovery pain ranged from 3-6 and was given morphine which worked right away. Most of the pain was over the port but the doctor told me I had a fairly large hiatal hernia repair as well so I assume that is also painful. I think the most pain came from moving onto another bed and getting up walking was fine. Wednesday at home was painful took my pain med every 4 hours walked and walked to get out the gas pain. Slept on my side last night and that was awesome I could feel the gas finally moving around and out, Today I feel good took a shower only pain med was this morning and got a protein drink down. What a difference a day makes.
  11. you should be back to normal tomorrow anesthetia slows things down
  12. well I was only banded on Tuesday but every time I read a stuck story I am more and more afraid to eat anything but liquids
  13. thanks kelly I will try but I told my place of work I would be back on Tuesday now I am rethinking that
  14. surgery went well actually went in an hour earlier than expected which was good so I wasn't just sitting there second guessing myself. Recovery for a couple hours then up to the floor little disappointed in that so I asked for a room change or a discharge. My doctor agreed to discharge so surgery was at noon and I was discharged by 5 home by 6 medicated and sleeping. Slept ok last night today I am pretty sore the doctor said the hiatal hernia repair was fairly big so maybe this is part of it. I am taking the hydrocodone as ordered and up walking often but in more pain than I expected. Also taking gas ex chewables and tried a heating pad. Any other ideas out there?
  15. I am so happy for you, my surgery is tomorrow I am nervous excited and starving

  17. speaking from a nurses point of view they won't even pay attention and the surgery itself won't be anywhere near the untamed lioness
  18. I am on day 8 of the diet, the first 4-5 days were tough and now it's OK. My problem is I have to cook all the food for my daughter's graduation party tonight and tomorrow I am dreading the temptation

  20. wow good for you and what a great attitude that alone will serve you well. My surgery is 8 days away and I am getting a bit anxious because I am doing the 3 protein shakes and one small meal diet right now and I am starving so not being hungry sounds great. Good luck
