Having To Start A New Beginning
I was in the same situation that you were, and this year I finally "woke up" and got with the program, I've been excercising and eating right, so far I only have 1.75 cc in a 4 cc band, but I'm going today to the mds for a fill. Good luck with everything we can all do this together!

3Rd Day Post Op Questions
With any surgery, your body is going through a major trauma, so your body will adjust. After any surgery I've had, I lose any and all appetite as well. Make sure to drink plenty of Water though, because the last thing you want to be is constipated! It happend to me after my lap-band surgery it was no fun! Best of luck on your new journey!!!! Also in regards to the steri strips itching, don't scratch just kind of tap them, it helps somewhat.

Date...help With Dinner Decision??
I used to get some sort of appetizer, and if he asked I would just say "oh I had a big lunch" after that most guys don't say anything. I've been with my boyfriend for over a year he has no clue I had the procedure done, even brought me to an endoscopy for a possible band erosion and still no clue...he's clueless in general. LOL.

Dining Out
Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats salads without lettuce! I get the strangest looks, but my excuse is "lettuce is just a filler" lol

What The Heck Happened To Me?
I'll be honest I'm a lazy cooker. If you came to my house you would see binders of recipes but I'm just not interested in food anymore, so I make what's easy. Green bean casserole is easy to make, so is baked shrimp so I do it. Last night I made those party meatballs with the chili sauce and cranberry sauce and kind of scooped out the meatballs without the sauce and had that last night for dinner. Thanks for letting me know I can freeze shrimp! Caribear thanks for the recipe, as of late I hated tomatoes, but recently I've learned to like them if I scoop all the "meat" out on the inside lol. Also I think this weekend I'm going to go to Big Y and get stuff to make portobello mushroom pizzas.

Nsv (Kind Of I Guess?) Also Goals, Food, Etc....
This morning after I got out of the shower, I wrapped the towel around me, usually it comes undone the minute I move, oh, anywhere, but it stayed around me until I had to get ready, I guess this is some sort of a nsv (if it is than yay!!!) Which got me thinking about goals. Also it got me thinking about how oblivious men are. Before Christmas, my co-worker was telling me about these rings that she gave her son's girlfriend for Christmas, they're called stackable expressions (google it!) so I tell my boyfriend about them (and not for nothing they are not that expensive!) for a Christmas idea and sure enough, guess what I don't get?? But he did give me a nice necklace. Okay back to goals, so I've decided that with every ten pounds I lose I'm going to get one ring. Of course I'm not going to buy them every time I lose ten pounds, but for example, when I lose 50 I'll go to the jewelers and pick out five, cannot wait! If I look at another shrimp again I'm going to be sick. I'm all shrimped out and that is one of my favorite foods, oh well they always have it at the grocery store. Next week I'm getting a fill and the mds requirements are two days of liquids two days of mushies and then solids by Friday, I totally forgot about this, so I guess I'm going to have to freeze the meatballs I made last night and also the corned beef and cabbage I'm making this weekend, but hey it's always good to have meals on hand! Last night I went to the gym for 45 minutes on the elliptical. I like love to listen to music while working out, I have the iheartradio app on my phone, and I put it on to the spin cycle station, which is great club music and NO COMMERCIALS it keeps me motivated enough that I don't even realize that my time is almost up. By the time I got home I was too tired to pack a breakfast and lunch for work tomorrow, so I had to resort to the cafeteria here, which is okay. I had a veggie egg white omlette with a little cheese it definetly filled me up. I've realized I cannot be so obsessed about how many calories/protein I consume a day. If I eat something and I'm full, then I'm full. I'm going to try that for the next couple of weeks and see how that goes. Can't give up on my chobani though! Have a good day!

What The Heck Happened To Me?
Thanks for your comments first of all!!! I think right now since I only have 1.75 ccs in my band its definetly below what I had before which was 2.00 ccs. Trust me, during the weekend, I pretty much eat everything I want but I can hear the trigger to stop eating (like a yawn) I just like to eat portable things during the week so I can bring them to work or wherever I'm going. After I wrote this blog, my hunger went away and you know what it was? I think I was thirsty more than anything, so I got a big cup of water and that helped. I had my lunch but didn't finish it because I wasn't really interested in it anymore (so tired of green bean casserole!). Seriously, if I could eat chobani yogurt for all of my meals for the rest of my life I would! Also with all the shrimp eating, I made a huge batch the other night I just want to go through with it so it doesn't go bad....can you freeze already cooked shrimp??? This weekend I'm making corned beef and cabbage for my boyfriend, I've never made it before say a prayer or send a good thought my way because I don't know how that'll turn out. I'm probably going to divide up the leftovers for lunch and dinner for next week, just to change up the food routine. On Monday I go back for another fill so we'll see how it goes. Thanks again

How Long Do You Burn Calories After A Workout?
I was at the gym last night, 40 minutes on the elliptical and it stated I burned around 500 calories, so after that gym how long after do you burn more calories than you usually would?

What The Heck Happened To Me?
First of all, it's been so long that I've been on this forum, I don't even remember writing a blog so long ago....wow! It's so sad that I kind of fell off the earth after March of 2007. Well I'm back and I'm going to be blogging every day! I don't care if no one reads this or everyone reads this I need all the support I can get!!!! So today was the first day I was really HUNGRY!!! After being completely unfilled two weeks ago, and then filled last Monday with only 1.75 ccs in a 4 cc band, I was thinking to myself "oh I may be in the green zone I'm not hungry between meals" YEAH RIGHT!!! My stomach is growling so loud I could wake up the dead (I work down the hallway from a morgue in a healthcare facility so it could happen lol). Also my boyfriend took me out to dinner for our anniversary (one year) to a sushi restaurant, and I ate a LOT of sushi, so not proud of that, but it was good. I'm not eating lunch until about 2pm or so since I'll eat dinner late. And also with this blog I'm going to write (type?) down everything I put in my mouth. This may get boring since I eat the same thing almost every day, but here goes nothing: Early AM-1 cup skim milk 1 scoop pure protein powder B (9am)-1 container of peach chobani yogurt 1 T Bearnaked protein power granola 1 T yogurt covered raisins L (2pm)- 4 oz of baked shrimp (jumbo size) 1/2 cup green bean casserole (soooo tired of this if anyone has creative vegetable side dishes please comment!!!) D (7pm)- 4 oz of baked shrimp 1/2 cup green bean casserole Post Gym Snack (who knows what time?)-2 tablespoons trail mix 45 minutes on the elliptical at the gym I find it so funny about what I used to ate right after I got banded and how the rules have changed I guess. It seems like now the majority is 3-4 oz of protein, then a half cup of veggies then if you have room carbs, I'm so not interested in carbs anymore....

I Can't Drink While Eating. Is That Normal??
Before I was banded my biggest fear was not drinking with a meal, now I'm so used to it it's not even funny. I usually don't drink one hour before and one hour after, but once and a while I will drink right up to a meal (for example, after the gym yesterday I ate, and was chugging Water all the time). I also notice now that the more I drink between meals the less I want to drink during meals, I guess because I'm not dehydrated. Just my two cents

Need A Buddy!
Hey everyone, was looking for a lap-band buddy. I was banded January 2007, lost weight, gained, and now I'm back on the "bandwagon", just looking for someone for support and accountability especially with excercise (I'm usually motivated, but I fell this week in the snow and in a lot of pain, I'm afraid that I'll lose my motivation) Thanks for reading!

Fell Off The Bandwagon, Scared To See Surgeon Next Week!! Please Help!
Great job! I went back to my md on Monday and they were sooo supportive!!! I have to go back for a follow up appt on January 30th as well to see if they need to put more into my band. Got to love Charles River, one of my favorite things about Boston!

Re-Introducing Myself
Thanks so much for the support I feel like Monday will be a new start for me. I have to say my new found love of the gym will help. I used to HATE going to the gym before, now I love it. I think it's because I have Pandora radio on my phone so the music varies and I don't get bored. I'm not one of those people who can watch tv or read while working out I would probably fall off the elliptical machine!!! LOL.

Fell Off The Bandwagon, Scared To See Surgeon Next Week!! Please Help!
I fell off the bandwagon as well! I had my surgery FIVE YEARS AGO!!! If it wasn't for having to go back for them to take out my gall bladder idk if I'd go back because sometimes it is discouraging....but I'm going back Monday for a fill, eating healthy again and I'm already going to the gym (I used to hate it, but now I love it!) Good luck to you!

Rant. Emotions. Crying. Enter Post At Own Risk.
I'm sorry for what happened *hugs* people sometime don't have that filter from the brain to the mouth, I hear all the time "you carry your weight well" oh well jeez thanks I guess! What the heck is that suppossed to mean??? And in regards to family (esp grandmothers) I think that's the way they are, the last time I saw my grandmother (about 3 years ago) she said to me "boy you paid all that money and you look the same, for what you paid you could've got plastic surgery" um, thanks happy holidays to you as well. Anyway, you will be looking hot soon I promise!

Re-Introducing Myself
Hey everyone! My name is Andrea, I live in Connecticut and had the lap-band in January 2007. I was doing great up until 6 months after surgery (I know, I'm an idiot) and everything went downhill. I know I have a ton of excuses but that's what they are-excuses. Anyway, after a gall bladder removal in September of 2011 my surgeon (who is in the same group that did my lap-band surgery) wanted me back in her office January of this year to start up on fills again and wants me there every month (thank god for good health insurance $30 a visit is nothing to complain about!) Anyway I went in on Monday for the fill and when she pulled out what was in the band already was a brownish-orangish color much like the color that was in the drain that they put in me after my gall bladder removal (that in itself is a whole different story, a gall bladder is suppossed to be small and flacid, when they took mine out it was the size of a fist. The whole time I was having GB attacks I thought it was heartburn!!!!). So she took the Fluid out and set me up for an endoscopy on Thursday (she thought the band may have eroded) So yesterday I go in for my endoscopy and everything is okay, she figured that there was so much bile from my gall bladder that went into my body during the removal that some of it seeped into the band and caused the dis coloration, I got home and scheduled a fill for Monday the 16th. I am going to get back on track. Right now I'm 303 lbs, already down 11 lbs from December just by watching what I eat and excercising. Hopefully with these fills, I'm going to lose more, just need some support, and that's what I'm here for! Thanks for reading

January Bandsters???
Good for you!!!! It's nice to reach those mini goals. I can't believe I've lost over 60 lbs since my surgery, it's amazing what it can do! Keep up the good work! I had a NSV yesterday when one of the receptionists asked if my boobs got smaller, I guess they did, but now people are noticing. Also this morning I tried on a bunch of old clothes that didn't used to fit....well now they do!!! Some are snug, but they will definetly be wearable by summer!
