  1. My friend and I went walking yesterday. We walked by an elementary school where some young boys were playing baseball. It looked like a Little League team practice since there were a few parents out also. Well, as we passed the field, the kid on first base yells, "Y'all need to go to Weight Watchers". I know this is common for kids to do especially when they want their peers to think they are "cool". But shame on the parents for not reprimanding him for his actions. No one said a word to him . >> I can't pass up a snappy answer to a stupid remark: "Hey Kid! I might be fat but I can lose weight too bad you're ugly!" ................................................ One of the things I love about my school is it is such a melting pot. Everyone gets along because everyone is from someplace else. You can't be spanish because you might be Puerto Rican or Cuban, or Haitian or Dominican or Guatemalan which BTW, there is no universal spanish so they "correct" eachother's spanish. It's a fun game and fast friends are made that way. I LOVED that comment to the kid Tom. (still laughing)
  2. I really liked everything about Dr. Ortiz. Lori was a sweetheart. I was put at ease and the price was excellent. I'm from Florida so the tropical climate wasn't such an enticement for me. The price was an enticement for me. Ultimately I decided to stay in the states with Dr. K. I always think sleeping on a decision is a good idea. In the end, you are the one who will make the trip, face surgical effects and walk the walk. Whatever your instinct tells you to do is (for me) most likely the course of action I need to follow. Best of luck to you.
  3. Delta. Seat extensions are free on all airlines. Don't fly Northwest, I've had a couple of negative experiences and their flight attendents are less than cordial to fat people. Delta!
  4. Well since the original post was edited for content, it seems moot for the moderators to let this thread continue running. What to respond to????
  5. Here it is! After dealing with my company insurance for five months now, open enrollment starts in August for us. Once that door is closed, it's CLOSED. He can't do anything until the next open enrollment period. Regardless of the "other side to the story". Anyone who would threaten you with a means to removing the source for paying for your dream is a bully and control freak. He's manipulating you and yes I will go so far as to say being mentally abusive. He may feel threatened by the weight you have lost, by the possibility of what you may lose and then you may not be so dependent on him because you may feel more able to do for yourself. Stay strong, stay committed and take it one day at a time.
  6. Whoo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the kind of loser I want to be!
  7. So happy you have your date. What an awesome feeling.
  8. ..hee hee... 'atta girl!
  9. I'm not banded yet but I've heard folks say the gas can be a concern and they recommend the GasX strips that melt in your mouth. I've read you can take up to 4. Glad you are going to the doctor. Best of luck to you.
  10. Thank you for this. I just want to experience a meal and feel "full" like a normal person does.
  11. Say hello to the one's (100s) when you meet them. They will be with you the rest of your life! Love this thought!
  12. !!) So i'm going to go with the flow and take it as it comes.... God I sound really laid back! Not that I am at the moment... 3 weeks tomorrow and I'll be off to Gay Paris!!! Feeling anxious and excited that I'm finally taking the plunge and tackling my weight problem, permanently Thanks for your thoughts Yvonne Sounds like my kind of plan. I could do Paris for three days resting! Well done. Hats off to you for moving forward with your life changing choice. I think that is half the battle when it comes down to it. Keep posting on your progress.
  13. Hello Lapinater. How are you doing so far?
  14. I've had this mentality for atleast 20 years; that each nice dinner, where I can have a little of this and that, is my "last good meal before I diet". It's no different for me right now as I prepare for being banded. Come to think of it, it's another reason why I'm getting banded.
  15. Hi 3447. Congratulations on making that choice to go in a different direction. How exciting to have your date. ( I have my consulation with the surgeon March 19th). *I'm tired of the Yo Yo Syndrom too*

  19. WOO! Yeah! I am looking forward to this day. In the meantime, liquid soaps that are soothing on the skin: Baby Magic Baby Bath, anything by Crabtree and Evelyn, anything by Bath and Body Works... all this for that extra special bit of freshness.
  20. I've heard of Dr. Kim. If I am not mistaken Dr. Kim's facility is a Centers of Excellence in Bariatrics with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Good Luck. BTW: There are several options down in the Bay Area.
  21. The week before "Myrtle" visits, I could eat my arm off. Good that you rebounded back. You did several positive things to get yourself back on track. Good job! It has never left me that like an alcoholic, I have a food addiction. Moreso what I need that band as a tool to help me overcome this. But I know that I know it won't make that addiction disappear but it will help me cope and navigate through those moments when food is calling.
  22. A phase I am looking forward to! Congrats to you. I'm so happy for you. (smiling) and happier still you can go down a slide with your grandchildren.
  23. Fellow coffee lovers thank you. I am a Gevalia coffee freak. Kona specifically.
  24. Hello Dr. C. Could you talk about the pre-surgical diet or what some refer to as "detox diet"? Thanks.
