Hello Kristie!! It's a pleasure to meet you!! I don't know many folks on this site either - but they all seem very nice, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with! Ohhh, I'm not banded - yet! I am in the beginning stages of the whole thing. Talked with the PCP and the insurance company, found a surgeon in my area, and am attending my first seminar next wednesday! Congratulations on YOUR band tho!! I am anxious to hear about your journey! ~Lisa

Sleep study and apnea
I am glad they gave you something that would help relax you. I had been running around all day before I took my test - and went out like a light!! Do you have the results of your sleep study yet? Just curious... They pretty much gave me my results the next morning when they told me that "you probably should schedule your follow up study while you're here.." My PCP confirmed that "yes, it was positive". Sooooo, Saturday I get to do it all over again.. Will have to remember to run around like a crazy woman again, perhaps get in 18 holes of golf and cut the grass too! ~Lisa

Sleep study and apnea
Hi Tia! I too had a sleep test about 3 weeks ago and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I go this saturday for the follow up CPAP test. The actual experience wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I just kept knocking the wires off during sleep! I had my own pillow, the television, a good book, my ipod, munchies, and comfy pj's! I was a little self conscious while falling asleep - but once asleep I managed to sleep all the way through. I think my anxiety over the sleep test was being petrified by the thought that I just might (or would most likely) have sleep apnea. I did not and do NOT want the CPAP - or as I call it, the "C-CRAP"!! But, the blessing is that the diagnosis of sleep apnea has caused me to look more closely at my life, at the changes that need to be made, to begin my research on weight loss surgery, and ultimately the beginning of my journey into a healthier me. I guess it has been the "push off the ledge" that I've needed for quite some time now! So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! :scared2: ~Lisa

Pre-op weigh in questions
Hello Amber! Thank you for asking the question that I have been very curious about! And, thank you all for your candid answers. There is so much to learn about this process, and I am thankful to all on this site who have the same questions, concerns and emotions that I am going through as I begin this journey! Good Luck, Amber!! ~Lisa

Sleep study
I had a sleep study about 3 weeks ago. It really wasn't that bad. The hardest part was trying to sleep with the wires. My husband and I travel alot so the "strange bed" really wasn't an issue for me. The bed was comfortable, I brought my own pillow, my favorite and most comfortable-ist jammies, a good book and my ipod. There was a television in the room and I could bring all the Snacks and things I wanted to bring - I brought some pretzels and a bottle of sparkling water! They don't insist that you do anything that you wouldn't do at home. If you go to sleep late with the television on, then go to sleep late with the television on. I didn't even know they were there most times. A few times during the night the tech had to come in because I knocked a few wires off - but that is the only time I saw her. I wouldn't recommend taking anything that "helps" you sleep - on your own. Some medications will give a false result because of the way you sleep while on it. I am sure that if you need something to relax you it will be prescribed so that they can take that into account when determining your results. I have a follow-up test this saturday - yes, I was found to have sleep apnea. So, I will be thinking about you and hoping that all goes well with you! Good Luck!! You'll be fine! ~Lisa

Dont wanna tell a soul...
I've only spoken about my thoughts to my husband and one of our sons. I'm in the very beginnings of the journey and pretty much have my mind made up to persue this. Sometimes I feel that perhaps I should be dealing with some of the "cons" that I am sure to hear from family members and friends - most of whom I am sure are "experts" in the field of weight loss! But, on the other side of that coin, I don't know if I WANT to constantly be defending my choice to do this. Oh, I can hear my friend Barb now! She lost 8lbs on the sauerkraut diet (probably 8lbs of GAS) - I've heard enough about that already! ~Lisa

Anxiously Awaiting Approval
Congratulations and good luck!! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for everyone here who is anxiously waiting! I've just started the whole process. Found out my Aetna plan covers the surgery, found a bariatric surgeon and am attending my first seminar next wednesday. So, you can say I'm just getting my feet wet! Best of Luck!! ~Lisa

Very pissed Off!!!!!
Hi Lashonda! Just remember you're doing it for YOU - and you are the only one that counts. It is YOUR health, YOUR happiness, YOUR life! Some people believe they're the "experts" and have all the answers. I am not banded yet, but am in the first stages of doing so. But, know that I am behind you, praying for you and wishing you all the best - YOU can do this YOUR way!! ~Lisa

Why are we doing this?
To be healthy, and alive to enjoy my Husband, Children and first Grandson for a LONG LONG time... I look forwarad to being able to run and laugh with my Grandson as often as he wants!

Hi from PA!
Hello Everyone! I'm new here - but, I've been reading for quite awhile. I am considering Lap-Band Surgery. I've had a few tests done, have talked with my Family MD, and have recently found a Surgeon who may be someone I am interested in. This is the beginning of my journey, and I hope to come back here often for friendship, support and encouragement - to get AND to give!! Thank you!! ~Lisa
