What To Do W/ My Pets?
I have 2 dogs and my younger one likes to jump on me, but I had no problem taking care of them. Sure he jumped on my abdomen once or twice, but I managed. I really don't think you need to board your dog. I live alone, and my mom brought me hem from the hospital, and I asked her to walk them when we got home, but after she left a few hours later, I took them out and took care of them.

Everyone Said Premiere Protien Shakes Are Goood, To Me It Tastes Like Watered Down Chocolate Milk
I happen to like the chocolate. But everyone's taste is different. Some people swear by the Bariatric advantage I wanted to vomit drinking them. I don't think the premeir protein tastes like chocolate milk though. I also lime unjury and I think their chocolate tastes like chocolate milk when made with milk

Weird Pain......
How far post op are you? It seems some banded people get it forever post banding. Basically the band rubbing on a nerve or the diaphragm (I forget which), that gives you referred pain to your shoulder. There was one woman on here who had her band removed due to the chronic pain.

Has Anyone Tried Premiere Protein Shakes?
I have a chocolate premier protein drink every morning. I'm not one to eat breakfast anymore. I workout in the morning and feel sick if I have food in my stomach. The taste was ok at first, but now I've grown to really like it.

Band Is Too Tight With No Fill......help!
If you can't eat anything at all, you need to have your band out like now. Losing 29 lb in one week is not healthy at all! Most of that will not even have been fat, losing that quick you are no doubt losing muscle.

Hcg Diet For Any Bandsters?
You lose weight with hcg purely from the 500 calorie diet restriction, which is extremely unhealthy. It is a total scam.

Is Endoscopy Routine With Acid Reflux
You probably also have a hiatal hernia. A lot of the members here had one that was repaired during surgery. I used to have reflux and heart burn, and honestly I never really thought about it, I actually assumed it was a normal thing to have reflux. I mean it wasn't nearly every day or very often at all. I had a hiatal hernia that wa repaired during surgery and besides having 3 days of heart burn shortly after surgery, I have not had any since.

Those Of You That Have Been Banded A While...
Honestly I think I'm already smaller than I was when I graduated high school. I started gaining I think during my last 2 years in high school. So I'm really not sure what I'll look like. Right now, my goal is 135 (which is right at the high end of a "normal" BMI.) I'm not sure what size that will make me. I'm in a size 12 jeans now. My tops are mediums. I've been working on body fat right now, since the scale doesn't want to play nice, so I think I'm getting more tone and maybe some muscle, so I'm not sure how that will effect things.

Carbs - Yes Or No?
I was doing low carb, and my trainer told me this too. She was like where are your carbs? She recommends low GI carbs, 3 grams of Fiber or more. Also she says no carbs within 2 hours before working out and no carbs within 3-4 hours of going to bed.

Dizziness/fatigue
I mentioned in another thread of yours if you can't get liquids down comfortably. Call your doc and see if there is fluid in your band. You're going to become dehydrated if you aren't already and if you're lightheaded you probably are. This is nothing to mess with. You say you are 7 days post op, you should be able to drink fine.
-
Reversal?
You may want to find out if there is any saline in you band. If there is get it removed so you have time to heal and be more comfortable.

Bmi Too High...
I had a one week liquid diet and lost 9.8 lb (or 9 point something, can't remember exactly). I had been going to the gym, but I did not exercise during that week.

Am The Only One Freaked Out By Shirleys Post??
Erosion has nothing to do with the port. The port is sutured to your muscle, I believe outside your abdominal cavity, nowhere near your stomach.

Am The Only One Freaked Out By Shirleys Post??
No, I do not think her death was directly related to her band. I can't think of a way the band slipping would cause seizures, nor can I believe that her band was strangling her lungs either. The chest and abdominal cavity are separated by the diaphragm. I know it's not that thick of a membrane, but I still don't see how. I believe that Shirley may have had other medical problems that contributed to her untimely passing.

Not Getting The First Fill,anyone?
I have barely any fill. and I don't worry about chewing or anything. I've never gotten truly stuck. I've had a couple times that I've felt food going down for a few minutes (painfully), stood up and sipped some water and after a minute or two it went away (I don't think that constitutes being stuck, since from my understanding that lasts for hours). Weirdly it only has happened when I was at work when I was having dinner. I guess maybe stress tightens it a little. Oh and I didn't get my one and only tiny fill til 5 months post op.

Huge Bruise Under My Belly Button?
They may have given you an injection in your abdomen of heparin (an anticoagulant) they did to me and I had a huge bruise too.

How Long Did You Stay Home Post-Surgery ?
I had surgery Monday and went back the following Monday. I have a physical job. On my feet 10 hour shifts bending into cages, lifting dogs etc. I'm an LVT. I felt like I could've gone back at like 5 days post op, but I had already taken off. The Monday I went back we'd had a snow storm over night and I had to dig my car out from like a foot of snow. Probably should not have done that but I was so bored at home.. I told my supervisor I'd possibly take off Monday too, so I knew it'd be ok if I called out, but I couldn't take another day of sitting around

What Happens If You Get Pregnant Before Your Surgery Date?
I think the pre op requirements are good for like a year. I believe ater a year you have to redo them. So I guess if you were to have your surgery very shortly after giving birth you'd be good. Not sure if a doc would want you to be a certain amount of time post partum though
-
Changing Insurances Will I Have To Start Over?
You shouldn't need to redo things. My job changed our insurance like 3 months prior to my surgery. I had already done 3 months of the 6 months and all of my requirements. (EGD, chest rad, psych, etc) and had no problem with being approved.

Can I Lose 9 Pounds Before Next Friday?
I would not do that. If you don't get ANY nourishment your body might even revolt and lose nothing. Drinking the shakes, you will lose weight. If you have til next Friday, you should lose 9 lb. I was on a liquid diet for one week pre op and the last 2 days were Clear liquids only and in those 7 days I lost 9.8 lb. You have more than a week and to be honest, I weighed less than you so in essence you may be able to lose more than me. Honestly though I don't see why they won't band you at your current weight.

What Ti Say To My Co Workers..
I've just told my coworkers, that I'm watching what I eat and exercising. Which is actually the 100% truth. Since I barely have any fill, nor do I want any.

Someone Please Save Me From Junk Food!
I've been eating chocolate more too lately. I said yesterday for the next 2 days (starting slow, but will try to extend it) no regular chocolate. My trainer told me though if I want chocolate to eat a square of Lindt 85% dark chocolate. She said it will digest slowly and will help you not want more. I did have a piece yesterday, but it was kind of hard to eat (not a huge dark chocolate fan and this was really dark) but it definitely made me not want more. So I'm going to try it today when I'm craving chocolate.

Fills????
I say if you're losing, let it be. I don't see how you can get all the nutrients you need in 1/4 cup of food.

Important Question For Your Anatheisologist
I didn't have to ask. When I was having my IV put in and given heparin and stuff the nurse put a scopolamine patch behind my ear. I never had one issue with nausea. (Besides day 4 after I took it off, I went out shopping and after a couple hours I started getting a little queasy). The only thing about the patch is that it can mess with your vision. I had been trying to read and my eyes weren't able to focus or something and then I found out the patch has that as a side effect, I had forgot I even had it on, once I took it off all was well with my vision.

Anti-Inflammatory Question!
I take NSAIDs whenever I need to. My surgeon said that rule is mainly for bypass patients.
