  1. Reverie just so you know actigal is the same as ursodiol. Brand name vs. Generic, or other way, I forget. But same thing
  2. Ashley, I want to make sure you understand, you said if I eat something bad for me I'll be sick after. No, you won't, unless you eat to much you may feel uncomfortable. If you eat, let's say chocolate, or chips, there will be no consequences. You will not feel sick. Just want to make sure you ate aware of this. To Kim , as you said you heard at the seminar it is true, if you continue to eat sweets the surgery will not help you, unlike bypass you won't get sick from eating chocolate. In order to be successful you need to change your ways. As for not really losing weight for 3 months, well that is whatever your willpower is. Most people get very hungry shortly after surgery, and need fills to control it. And according to many you may not have restriction for many fills/months after. If you are lucky you can be like me who continues to have restriction right from the surgery. There ate some, I've heard that get by without exercising but I exercise regulary and I think you should.
  3. I started out slower at the gym 3-4, then 4-5 times per week with usually 30-35 minutes on the elliptical, then doing the weight machines for like 30-40 minutes. Then 6 weeks ago I switched to kickboxing, again I started off at 3 classes per week 1 hour classes. Now I am up to 6 classes per week. On my days off I go twice, so I am off 3 days usually.
  4. I had heard you just need to get your dress like 3 months in advance ? My sister is getting married in November and I am worried about this as well. I'm going to try to wait as long as I can before getting the dress
  5. That sucks for the delay, but continue to do band research. I ended up having to do a 6 month monitored diet and I stayed on this board the whole time and I learned so much on my wait. When I read a lot of peoples posts I feel that they go into this blind, not having researched enpugh
  6. A hiatal hernia does not prevent you from getting a lap band, they just fix it while they are on there. I had mine fixed as well as many other people on the board has had one
  7. Like I said I drink it a lot by I also water it down. My taste has changed since I've been drinking it. I started with the individual packets that say mix with 16.9 oz. Then it got to sweet so I changed it to 20 oz, then 24, now I mix it in 32 oz, for the individual and the large packets in a little more than a gallon
  8. I use it all the time (well wylers light but basically the same thing). The only time I drink plain water is when I am working put
  9. I'd recommend calling a surgeon, but I would think not since abdominal surgery disrupts the peritoneal space, plus if she has kidney failure I wouldn't even think it would be safe to have her go under anesthesia since so many drugs are filtered through the kidneys. Going under for a transplant is a different story
  10. Like reverie, I portion my food and stop eating when it is gone. Honestly my hunger is gone after a few bites, but I know that won't hold me, nor is that enough calories.
  11. The Isopure clear liquid is nasty! I couldn't even swallow any flavor. The only thing that gave me protein on my clear liquid diet was the unjury chicken broth. Needless to say during my clear liquid portion I did not get nearly enough protein. For full liquids unjury all the way
  12. It's a nice jump start to your weight loss as others have said. Will you surgery be cancelled probably not. But, i think you need to think about your surgery now, it seems you are already planning to not follow your docs instructions, this is not a good sign for your surgery. In order to lose weight with your lap band you need to follow your docs directions. You don't have to to a tee, but there are rules you need to follow. I would not recommend starting to sabotage yourself from the get go
  13. If you lost 3-4 lb in one week that is great weight loss, you can really only expect to lOse 1-2 lb per week
  14. The hard lump you are feeling could be your port. Is it by the largest incision? The pull could be because it is sutured to your muscle
  15. Ricotta cheese with sauce and shredded mozzarella, baked. It is delicious
  16. Good thing I stumbled across this thread, I have been cold lately too. Hadn't taken my temperature until I had a cold two weeks ago and I was freezing, I took my temp and it was 95.3. I was like wth! My normal temP is usually a little low at 97 something. I've taken my temp a few times since then and if I feel cold it is usually low in that range. I was like something must be off with my thermo regulation
  17. Did you have a psych consult or go to support groups before your surgery? There was no point in having the surgery if you're going to eat a large plate of food. You need to think about why you had the surgery. As to when you can eat real food, follow your docs guidelines
  18. It will slow down. I'm not sure what you weighed at surgery or what you weigh now, on my phone so I'm not sure if your goal is realistic or not. But a lot of people end up plateauing sometime during the first six weeks due to healing. I plateaued weeks 2-5, my weight loss average right now is like 1 lb per week. I've increased my activity so once my body gets used to it, I hope it will pick up. But realistically the average persons weight loss is 1-2 lb per week. If you think about it sometimes slower is better because it can give your skin time to adjust
  19. 4 months out and no fill yet. Like checkyes I did not plan it that way. I just feel like I have restriction with just the band and I'm doing ok without a fill ( I do thunk I have some fill from surgery though, I want to ask when I go on Wednesday) I do hope I can keep going without one. But I'm not afraid to get one, if I do I will make sure I never get to tight though
  20. I go by my home scale. My docs scale usually weighs me a little less, but I'm going to be monitoring my weight at home after I stop going to my doc monthly so I use mine. As for what the doc sees your weight is obviously he will go by his
  21. I've seen a few people talk about low carb diets. Usually my carbs end up being like 90 by the end of the day. I haven't eaten pasta in months. I'm just curious if I were to try it, what would I eat?
  22. I'm 4 months out and doc too said no fill. I can go 3-5 hours without being hungry. There is every so often a day when I am overly hungry though. But I can eat a small amount and be satisfied. I hope I can keep going without one. I do know when I do get one though I am going to be in trouble because I don't chew as well as I should
  23. Pam, I stalled at weeks 2-5. Don't worry you'll start losing again
