  1. My original plan was to continue to use WW, but while I was doing the 6 month supervised diet, I decided this is stupid and decided to just count calories and have done fine with that.
  2. 1. No regrets, I am happier than I've ever been in my life. I'm no longer depressed and realized my depression was physical and not chemical (which makes sense why I never felt antidepressants never worked). 2. The only thing I was a little surprised about was how much my throat hurt after being intubated. I've intubated tons of animals and never thought about how uncomfortable it can be. I did not get a lot of gas pain. I wanted to die the first day, but I knew it would be painful, I only took the pain meds the first 2 days (not every 4 hours) and once on day three and only because I got TOM and had bad cramps. 3.I went back after 1 week and I have a physical job. I cod have gone back at day 6-7 but I had already taken off. I even dug my car out from under a foot of snow to go back ( I was really bored at home ) 4. I felt pretty normal at day 5. I mean I was still a bit sore getting up and out of bed and sitting, but nothing horrible. I guess if you meant no pain at all, probably at 2 weeks (I think)
  3. That's great! I say if you're fine the way you look and feel right now than stay where you are. I may change my number too as I get closer, as I've been obese my whole adult life so I have no idea what I will look like
  4. Hmm I wonder if I should refill the vitamin d prescription I was supposed to be taking? My surgeon said my levels were low, but the calcium chew I take has vitamin d in it. I too have been really tired lately and feel I've been struggling more in my workouts. Mine seemed to start when I started taking birth control, so I stopped taking it, it's only been 3 days since I've been off it. If it continues I'll mention it at my next visit next month. I'll refill the vitamin d in the mean time though
  5. First off, how in the world do you blame the band for a person having a piece of sausage blocking her trachea? The band is around your stomach, which is in your abdominal cavity where the opening to your trachea is in your mouth. I don't see how the two are related. If she died from that there is no way the band caused it. Secondly, a bans has to have Fluid for it to be locked in place? The sutures are what is holding it in place. I've had my band for 4 months and have not had a fill and I've never been stuck or PB'd or anything. I don't see how it can be dangerous. Third, is this surgeon your quoting the same one who caused you to have all the problems with your band? If so I don't think you should remember anything he's said.
  6. 1. Walk into any store and buy clothes without worrying if it will fit (and probably just stop wearing jeans and a t shirt since I've always hated clothes shopping) 2. Be comfortable on an airplane and not try to book my seat without anyone sitting next to me. 3. Someone said ride a horse, I think I'd like to do this without feeling I'm hurting the horse 4. Not be scared to death to wear a dress at my sisters wedding in November 5. Wear shorts 6. Be able to go to an amusement park and not wonder if I'll fit on this ride 7. Be more confident and not be scared to do things like dance in front of people 8. Get a boob lift 9. Finally have a boyfriend
  7. If that is truly all you are eating, that is not even 400 calories. That is to low. I would increase your calories
  8. I am very happy with my band. I would consider myself a slow loser, around 1 lb a week average. But I am happy with it. I have yet to have a fill and was banded in December. I allow myself to have "treats" and I only get hungry after 4-5 hours. I do usually 6 kickboxing classes a week. I would do it again
  9. If you are not hungry there is no need to get a fill. Also I've read that fills sometimes don't kick in for 2 weeks, why are you getting a fill so close to each other. I don't see how a fill will make you lose weight. Especially if you are not eating to much. Play around with your calories or exercise. Sorry this is just going on things I've read, I've never had a fill
  10. Are you talking pre or post op? Pre op I had 5 days full liquids, 2 days clear liquids. Post op 1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week mushies, 1 week ground/chopped, then normal food
  11. How much does she weigh? I went back to work one week after banding. I work with animals as an LVT and I lifted up dogs no problem. For the first 3.5 weeks post op, I kept it to under 25lb though. I had no problems. After that I went right back to picking up 60+ lb dogs, depending on how I felt
  12. Just jump right back in! I went away to the Bahamas 7 weeks after my surgery. I did not have a lot of choices of eating very healthy on that trip (most meals were brought to us) I admit I ate like crap too. Though I did walk on the beach most days. Luckily I came back to find i'd lost .5 lb. But when I got back, even though I got home at like 2 am. I woke up in the morning and was at the gym at 10am. So I jumped right back on and kept going. So believe me you can do it, dive right in!
  13. As for a urinary catheter, not likely. Lap band surgery is only about an hour, so you should not need one. As for being intubated, yes you will. It helps maintain your airway and keeps you under with gas anesthetic. What surprised me (and I've intubated hundreds if not thousands of animals in my career) is that your throat is so sore afterward, I'd never really thought about it. Sugar free Popsicles helped with that
  14. As little as my pain was, I definitely would not have been up for camping the next day. I did not even leave the house til day 3.
  15. Fluffy just to correct you for a second 1/2 lb per week is 26 lb per year, not 52 as there ate 52 weeks in a year and she is losing 1/2 that. As for if you should get the fill, are you hungry? I've never had a fill but at this point I don't think having one would make me lose any faster I eat the right things and don't get hungry, but if you are overtaking and unable to control it, then probably a fill would help
  16. I have never gotten a fill and I wouldn't say it is like not having a band. I get full from a 4 oz protein and a bit of veggies. I don't think that would have ever held me for hours prior to the band. I don't chew as well as I should but have never gotten stuck or PB'd, I have had a sensation of it going down slow. Also if I eat to fast I feel a little sick afterward.
  17. There might be stuff in there because when I asked the PA at my post op appointment if there was anything in my band she said they come with a little bit in them. I assume to keep it from sticking to itself, so unless the doc took this out there is probably a little something in it
  18. I use livestrong.com. They have the iPhone app so I have it all the time
  19. If you can tolerate it it is fine. I don't deprive myself of anything. But now instead of 2 slices, one slice totally fills me up.
  20. I tossed around the idea of low carb, especially since there are a bunch of people at my job who are doing a modified Atkins and losing weight. I decided to stick with low calorie. I am a somewhat finicky eater to begin with so the limitations of low carb would be to much for me. Not to sayi don't try to limit my carbs, most days I stay around 90-100g. I don't eat sandwiches or stuff like that. I do occasionally eat a garlic knot because I love them, but most days not.
  21. I've never been sick like that, but from what I've read if it just seems tight and you can get liquids down it is probably just irritated from the vomiting. I would just do liquids for the weekend and see how that goes, you should probably still go in and just make sure everything is ok. Hopefully it is just irritated!
  22. Continuous use of NSAIDs with the band can cause ulcers due to the smaller surface area that the NSAID has to be dissolved in. So you could have caused an ulcer which could explain the nausea
  23. I'm giving this til next Sunday so two full weeks on it. My weight us up like 3 lbs and I feel tired taking this. If this doesn't change after next Sunday I'm stopping it and talking tO my dr. I'd rather feel like shit one day a month then like crap everyday and have it hinder my weight loss.
  24. So far I've been on it 6 days and my weight is up 2.5-3lb. I am so not happy about this. I know it is the bc, I'm not eating more and I'm exercising the same. I'm giving it til next Sunday and if this weight isn't gone and I still feel crappy I'm stopping it and calling my doc. I'd much rather feel like shit one day a month and be able to lose weight, than feel crappy all the time and not be able to lose weight. People keep telling me my body will adjust so I'm giving it 2 full weeks. What do ya think? As for a different kind, I would love the shot but was told that one definitely makes you gain weight, and as for an implant, I don't think I could handle that
  25. I used to always drink soda with lunch and dinner so once I gave that up it was pretty easily. Every do often I do find myself grabbing my water bottle when I go eat though
