  1. Please make sure you are consuming enough water and not too much sodium. After surgery it takes a while for things to normalize. I came out of the hospital on BP meds and was fine before I went in. I was scared also but after about 2 weeks I was off the BP again. I am 8 weeks out but still occassionally check my BP to make sure it is okay.

  2. I was sleeved on 04/16 and the PA was also not positive about my weight loss. However, I am losing again now because I went to Sams and brought the Premier Shakes and protein bars. I got the generic Prilosec also. I get in at least 40 oz of fluids daily and try some type of exercise everyday. No one told me my body would go into shock and the scale would just stop moving. I am also tracking what I eat on my fitness pal to ensure I am not getting in more than 800 cals a day. The cals add up fast because the protein bar is 290 cals but it also provides 30 gms of protein. It is good when I get home and start to feel hungry. I decided to only use the bars on occassion since they have so many calories. The weight loss is slow but I am still losing and not gaining. At one point I was gaining according to the scale. I knew then I had to make some changes. So I increased my fluids and proteins. We made the decision to do this and we have to press past all the obstacles set in our way. Before surgery I would starve myself, I still not lose. Now I can track what I put in my mouth (which thanks to the sleeve is a small amount at a time) eating protein first and do not eat and drink at the same time. I mostly eat protein now. I try to stay away from the carbs. (But today I had homemade spaghetti, with ground meat and chicken sausage. I ate approx. a half cup. Now I will not eat that everyday). If we know we are following the rules, we have to believe that we will be successful. My clothes are getting looser.

  3. it is so hard not to weigh everyday! i want to know, darnit!!! i am just over 6 weeks post op and have been stuck at a #26 loss. i am not sure what to do. I think maybe i am not getting enough calories in and i will start drinking more protein shakes. thank you for telling your story, it helps to know that others are feeling and going through the same things...

Wow me also what do you think the problem is? I am so ready for the scale to start moving again. I feel like crying but I know I am not eating too much and when I do I try to eat protein based foods and according to what it is I may not even get it all down, sometimes no more than 3 bites.

  4. I am stalled at 5 weeks. I think it is so hard to deal with mentally because you know you are only eating about a cup of food all day long. Some days not even that. I've seen so many success stories and I am determined to be one of them. Protein in first and all.

  5. Believe me you are not alone at just a few days over 4 weeks post op the scale is itching upwards. I am scouring this sight trying to find out what is going on. I think that I am not getting in enough liquids. So I have made a conscious decision to drink, drink, drink and make sure I get in 52 or more grams of protein a day. I thought I was drinking too many fluids but then I was at least steadily losing when I cut back the scale just froze. So I've decided to do what worked at first and push myself to also do some more walking. Failure is not an option here. We can make it.

  6. Thanks New_Hope I did not know sleep is an issue. I seem to be stuck and haven't lost but 2lbs in two weeks. I am currently starting week 5. I had to take 2 more weeks off work because of the uncomfortableness of trying to eat and drink.

  7. I too was sleeved on the 16th. The thing I can say is try to get in the fluids. I've also had a few hiccups post-op. I keep reading and forcing myself to get the goal amt of fluids and proteins in. I had the worst case of acid reflux and gas, skyrocketing blood pressures post op so what I can say is I feel scared but not yet regretful. I am starting to feel hungry. I have to put lemon juice in my water to get past all the sugar-free but still sweet alternatives for water. You will get through this but you may also consider visiting your doctor sooner.
